Planning for children is something that takes time. You know what to do in terms of your financial situation, and what kind of things you need to buy. Making the home ready, you get yourself a crib, a bunch of toys, nightlight, blankets, clothes and bottled food to name a few things. These are all very easy to understand and find. However, it’s only until you’re pregnant when you know what works and what doesn’t. This is of course because you are going through trial and error.
We try to get it right the first time as we all should. However knowledge of how other experiences have been is also crucial to our own understanding. Therefore getting the help or advice from someone who themselves has been pregnant can also help us to live a more comfortable life. It doesn’t always have to be strain and pain. If you do some things right a certain way, it can be like you’re on holiday. Laying back and taking it easy is just the beginning, there’s plenty more easygoing times ahead. All you need is a little guidance, and honestly just listen to what your body is telling you.
While you are pregnant, assign yourself a chair in the living room. This can be your chair only and no one else should be sitting in it. You can create this chair to your liking. Using an existing sofa or chair that you have, you can make sure that your blankets are always nearby or covering the chair itself. All your cushions and pillows that give your pelvis and back some extra and much needed support can be kept on the chair too. Maybe you could buy a new chair that will make life easier for you such as a cushion large wing chair that also has a popup footrest. Give your arms a rest too, so bolster the armrests themselves, such as using pillows or some kind of material that will provide some pressure absorption.
The living room chair is just one of the things you can do. Another is your car seat. Many women still want to drive and not have to rely on others to get them to where they want to go. Buy yourself a car seat cushion, so your back and spine can get the support they need. If you do get a ride in the back of a car, such as your family car, then make this comfortable too. Spread some wool blankets around and again, put some extra cushions inside the car. Take a load off your body by releasing some pressure from your joints and muscles. Since you might not be working when you’re in your late stage pregnancy, then you have a lot of spare time on your hands. Use some of it to go around the home and car, and make some of the things you regularly use more inviting and comfortable for you.
When we go on holiday, we tend to relax our eating habits. Any diets that you might be adhering to will go flying out the window when you land in sunny Spain. Locking eyes onto a buffet, you’ll eat the things you want to rather than the things you know you should. Since you are on holiday, nothing should hold you back. The same attitude to some degree can be implemented when you’re pregnant. Don’t forget you are eating for two or possibly more, so you should be a little more lax with your eating desires. In this modern day and age, many women want to workout even while pregnant. They want to keep their figure trim and remain in their original slim and toned body. This is fantastic and should be encouraged, however it’s not what everyone wants to do.
Yet, you shouldn’t go overboard with the eating either, remember that you will need to eventually lose all that weight you put on after you have your children. So while you do have this time, relax your eating by eating a little more. The average recommendation for a woman who is pregnant is around 2000 calories. This is the same as a fully grown man so for the average woman, this is a lot of food. However, if you are feeling slightly more peckish than usual, you can also go up to around 2,400 calories and still be in a safe and healthy range. Try not to abuse your current situation and eat too much. Remember that being overweight is not healthy for you and it’s not healthy for the child either.
When you are tired and uncomfortable, it’s easy to stay in and sleep a little longer. When you’re tired, uncomfortable and pregnant at the same time, it’s the right thing to do. You need to get a proper amount of sleep while you are at this stage in your life. It’s incredibly important to have a lie in when you want to and or feel like your need it. Consider the various and quite common issues regarding pregnancy and sleep. Many women in their first trimester do wake up at odd hours of the night. Even though they might be tired, their system is still working. In fact, a dormant part of your system has now activated and is working to prepare your body for the pregnancy. Therefore it’s little wonder that even though you may be tired and mentally exhausted, you can wake up in the middle of the night for no apparent reason.
Therefore waking up in the morning, yet still feeling tired is a clear sign you need extra sleep. If this is the case you might need to put some things you planned on doing during the day off for a while. You might even need to cancel them. The bottom line is, take it easy and get the sleep you need even if that is in the morning too. Sticking to your body clock is not advisable during pregnancy as you will be up at odd hours, and you will be feeling extra tired. There are no more normal 9 to 5 days and you might be ahead of behind a couple hours compared to everyone else’s lifestyle. That’s okay, because getting the sleep you need is going to increase your health.
Pregnancy brings on some odd behaviors. One of them is cravings. If you are a meat eater, you might not want to eat meat while you’re pregnant because your body rejects it. The same goes for if you’re a vegetarian as you might end up craving meat for the first time in your life. Essentially, it’s not you it’s the baby that is demanding it. Therefore in this regard you should relax a little and enjoy your guilty pleasures. Many women find that they have a sweet tooth when they get pregnant. This makes perfect sense because chocolate and candy is full of sugar and energy, something that the baby desires most of all to grow. In fact it’s better to eat candy and lots of chocolate than it is to eat fried and greasy foods instead.
If perhaps there is something that you would normally steer clear from such as a fatty and rich cheesecake, but now you seem like you could do with a bite of that sugary buttery treat, then have one or possibly more. Again, don’t forget that you are eating for two or more people now, so your calorie intake is going to increase by a large amount. Don’t go too wild, but if you do feel like your spirits would be lifted a little by eating pizza or ice cream, then do it. Bare in mind you won’t be in this state forever, so while your body can take it you may want to use this opportunity to enjoy some guilty pleasures.
While you’re pregnant it can feel like you’re missing out on somethings. Your family might be going off to sporting events or possibly eating out at restaurants while you just can’t move around and join them. Lots of things change when you are heavily pregnant but remember to take one day at a time. It’s not going to be forever, and as soon as you begin to take things slowly, you will find there is less stress in your life. The less stress you are under the healthier and happier you will be. So take your time and take each day as it comes toward you.
Pregnancy can and should be treated like a holiday. Put your feet up and make yourself more comfortable by having your own chair in the living room. If you like a particular seat on the sofa, then that will do too. Throw over some blankets and some cushions to make yourself more comfortable while you are pregnant. If you need a few extra hours of sleep because you feel too tired to carry on about your normal day, then do so. Don’t worry about not being able to do some of the things you planned if they’re not serious. Get the extra hours to increase your health.
