Why the FUJIFILM FinePix XP140 Waterproof Camera is a Must Have

With my busy family of five constantly on-the-go and enjoying the outdoors, I knew a good waterproof was a must for us. I tried my first “waterproof” camera back on my honeymoon but it was a disposable one that took okay photos. Then I got the FUJIFILM XP70 four years ago and that allowed me to really capture photos of my family that I wouldn’t otherwise get, such as underwater ones, beach ones and ones just out exploring. I mean I love my smartphone camera and my big ole’ DSLR camera but they are not ones I trust really when outdoors or especially near water. I should add too that my FUJIFILM XP70 is still going strong and my kids have taken it over, I just wanted the upgraded feature of saving photos to my phone.

This summer I upgraded to the FUJIFILM XP140 and the main feature to me that I am loving is the ability to bluetooth sync the photos from the camera to my phone via an app! Seriously a lifesaver with sharing photos right away, since I don’t usually have a computer handy while traveling or just out in general!

You can also wireless transfer photos to the FUJIFILM instax SHARE printer if you have one. I don’t…yet!

Some more features of the FUJIFILM XP140:

The bright yellow makes this camera easily seen! This is so helpful to me when its in my purse, in the sand or in the pool!

Waterproof up to 8ft, Freezeproof to 14 degrees F, shockproof to withstand drops from 5.9 ft. and dustproof to keep out sand and other foreign particles.

5X Optical Zoom Lens – means you can get closer to the subject without the blurriness that traditionally occurs.

16.4 megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor which captures amazing photos even if in underwater or low light conditions. The CMOS-shift Optical Image Stabilization system controls camera shake minimizing image blur.

Long battery life of up to 240 images with a fully charged battery. I also recently noticed my battery was low as I forgot to charge it and thanks to a portable power band I was able to charge my camera on-the-go so that is an option as well.

Advanced SR Auto Mode detects subject and shooting scene and automatically optimizes the camera’s settings. The Eye Detection feature will automatically focus on subject’s eyes.

Self-Timer modes includes SMILE mode which releases the shutter when it detects you are smiling and FACE AUTO SHUTTER mode releases the shutter when it detects you are facing the camera.

Continuous Shooting Mode captures up to 15 frames per second burst shooting is perfect for not missing anything! I love this feature because it allows me to keep clicking so I can get the exact photo I want plus the ones leading up to it.

Movie Function allows you to create 4K high-speed video. There are also features where you can create a 4 times slow motion effect or create an action-packed time-lapse recording.

If you set up the camera with your phone then you can synchronize your location and time information so you can remember when and where all your adventures were! Yeah for geotagging!

Why I NEEDED the FUJIFILM XP140…

I honestly love my new FUJIFILM XP140. I love that I can keep it in our pool bag and not have to worry about it. I usually don’t take my phone out at pools, waterpark, the beach or anywhere really I have to worry about it getting wet or dirty inside. This waterproof camera is truly heavy duty and is allowing me to capture so many great family memories that I otherwise wouldn’t have been able to.

I even sent off my 11-year-old with this camera to boy scout camp and my only worry was that he’d lose it, which he didn’t! It is a camera I trust to work when and where I need it to. While the photos don’t come out as detailed as the ones from my DSLR camera, they come out pretty dang amazing and are everyday photos from our family adventures. I cannot imagine traveling without this camera and it has become a staple in my everyday purse because you just never know when you are going to need it!
