Book “Positive Me! A Kids’ Guide to Self-Compassion”

I received product/compensation in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.

With so much going on in the world it is easy for kids to get overlooked. We are all so busy trying to figure out life and protecting our families that sometimes kids voices get lost in the shuffle. I know for me I have not been very good at talking to my kids about how they feel about everything that is going on. I feel too that I have been on edge a lot and have yelled at my kids more than I’d like. Now is a time too that we need to have compassion for each other’s feelings and ourselves.

Compassion is something to me that needs to be taught and embraced. With kids being the sponges they are, this is the time to teach them about compassion and more importantly self-compassion.

Does your child know they are thoughtful, valuable or unique? What about kind, resourceful and mindful? Maybe they don’t even understand what each of those words means or they don’t feel that they are.

A new book just came out that is an amazing resourcee to help kids with their self-compassion.

“Positive Me! A Kids’ Guide to Self-Compassion”

A Mom’s Choice Awards® Recipient and Story Monsters approved!

Would you like to give the ultimate gift to a child? Can you think of a child that is incapable of speaking kindly to themselves? Positive Me! helps establish positive self-talk through repeating simple and effective sentences on colorful, inclusive and engaging illustrated pages.
Positive Me! can immediately redirect kids’ negative thinking by completing for them, in positive terms, sentences that begin with “I am.” When combined with positive, self-affirming words, “I am” can be two of the most powerful words in a child’s vocabulary, words that can have a major developmental impact on a child’s life. Positive Me! is original, simple, and effective. This book encourages adults to read to kids; kids can then read and practice the sentences to themselves. Although this book targets elementary school-age children, the content is universal enough to appeal to and inspire children of any age!

Honestly, I am not big into self-help books for adults but this book for kids really makes sense. I read it to my 9 and 12-year-old and I could see them thinking about each word. Just saying the word in a positive sentence and then the definition re-affirmed for my kids that they are all those things. Some of the words too made them think about what they could work on. There is the saying that we can’t help others unless we help ourselves first and that is so true.

“Positive Me” is a great book for kids to have to look at when they are having a bad day or a day when they are doubting themselves. It is such an easy read and helps kids recognize that good qualities they have. We all need some assurance every know and then!
