How to Celebrate National Love Our Children Day

National Love Your Children Day is celebrated every first Saturday of April every year, and this year that day fell on April 3. The event aims to raise awareness on the rising incidence of child abuse by honoring children and encoruaging parents to maintain a loving relationship with their children. While our love for our children should be celebrated every day, it doesn’t hurt to show them some extra love during this time, more specifically now when they are deprived of doing any outdoor activities. That said, here are some fun and exciting ideas on how you can celebrate this special day during the National Child Abuse Prevention Month:

Hold a Movie Night

Once you’ve got some time in your hands at night, you can let your child enjoy some movie night. Let him choose two films that you are going to watch for the night. Make sure that you’ve got some snacks and drinks that you can munch on as you enjoy the movie. If you are watching two films for the night, properly space them so they won’t get prolonged exposure to blue light. What you can do is to watch one before dinner time and another one after. This way, their eyes have enough time to rest in between.

Have a Little Party at Home

It doesn’t have to be anything too fancy. You can cook their favorite food that they have been craving for a while. If you are up for it, you can also ask them to cook with you. This way, you can have that quality time with them. Getting cakes home delivered is also a nice idea to show how you appreciate your child by being an angel that he or she is.

Go for an Outdoor Drive

This one may be a little tricky to do. Make sure that there are no travel restrictions in your area if you decide to do this. Let your child hop on the car and just drive around. You can take them to their favorite place just to give them that breathing space to shake off the boredom from the stay-at-home orders. Bring them to the beach and let them enjoy a few minutes of enjoying the splash of water on their feet. Remember, you must do this with safety in mind.

Create a Bedtime Routine

Another effective method of showing your children how deeply they are loved is by starting a bedtime routine. You may not know it, but the quiet time you spend with your child as they prepare to sleep is very important for them. It gives them time to relax and connect with you on a deeper level. Hug them and read them a book. Tell them about how your day went and how they made it extra special. It can also be a way for you to know about how their day went to know how they are feeling.

Remember, our children should feel loved, appreciated, and protected as they grow up to be young adults. The way we treat them now will have a great impact on how they become parents to their children. Make sure to celebrate your child every day.
