There’s a fair share of terrible online dating advice out there, to the point where sometimes it can be difficult to know what to believe and what to ignore. This is especially true for women, who are often bombarded with advice on how to dress, what to say, and what to do in order to supposedly attract men. But while there are certainly some behaviors and actions that can make you more attractive than others, some of the advice published online today is downright laughable. Here are some pieces of dating advice you might stumble across online as a woman that are best simply laughed at and ignored.
If some men can’t grow up and accept the fact that women have breasts and they’re not actually designed for male pleasure, then do we really want to be dating them, ladies? We all deserve a man that loves and cherishes us for who we are regardless of our bra cup size. While everybody’s entitled to their own preferences regarding the type of bodies that they are attracted to, women’s bodies don’t have to fit into a mold designed by the internet. This ridiculous infographic titled ‘Men’s Love Starts Behind the Bra’ should go straight in the trash. If a man’s love for you starts with the blobs of fat on your chest, is it really love? Probably not.
As women we all appreciate some good fashion advice from time to time, whether you’re looking for the perfect boots to pair with a new fall dress or the trendiest shorts for your upcoming vacation. There’s nothing wrong with seeking out fashion advice online if you’re looking to improve your look and style. However, anything that’s geared towards telling you what to wear based on what men think of it instead of ideas for feeling fantastic in yourself can be thrown onto the ignore pile. It’s 2021, not 1951.
It’s OK to put your best foot forward when looking through singles profiles and dating online. But advice that suggests you change your entire personality to attract these random men on online dating sites is just downright terrible. Nobody should have to shift who they are just to get a guy, and if you find yourself in a situation where somebody’s only attracted to you because you’re putting on an act, then girl run, because they are not the right guy for you.
When will men get it? Women don’t wear makeup for men. Ask any woman, and she probably wears makeup because it helps her feel good about herself. Sure, you might do some makeup looks that your partner enjoys, but ignore any advice that tells you to put a certain type of slap on your face because ‘men like it’. If he’s the right guy for you it won’t matter if you’re bare-faced or wearing neon pink lipstick.
Online dating advice for women is thankfully becoming more feminist, but some of it needs to go back to the 1950’s where it belongs. Be yourself, ladies, and the right man will love you all the same.
