Climbing High & More at The Forge: Lemont Quarries (Plus its Dog-Friendly)

I received tickets in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.

Finding something that my whole family can enjoy from our dog through teens is never an easy task. My 10-year-old daughter is small and usually too young for things my 13 and 14-year-old sons want to do. The Forge: Lemont Quarries though is seriously a giant outdoor playground that all ages can enjoy and honestly you could spend days there and not get bored.

What did we do at The Forge: Lemont Quarries?

My boys and husband tackled the Eight Towers Adventure which is the largest and tallest ropes course in the world! There are as you could guess eight towers that you conquer by climbing, ziplining, and rappelling. There is easy access for beginner, intermediate, and advanced adventurers. Guests under 13 years old must be accompanied by an adult chaperone. Guests ages 14-15 must be accompanied by an adult who is present on-site at the Eight Towers Adventure. If you are not up to the challenge (I was not but luckily my husband was) then you can actually rent a guide to work with your child which is pretty awesome.

The Eight Towers Adventure has:

  • 299 ropes course elements
  • Rocking climbing
  • Rappelling from 120′
  • 2 miles of ziplines – including over a lake
  • Final 1000′ quarry zipline

Here are two YouTube videos I shared as well:

Oh and for loose items that you want with you instead of in a locker they have these cool pouches you can hook onto your harness. My husband had his phone and water in it.

My daughter was not tall enough and did not weigh enough for the Eight Towers Adventure so her and her friend tackled the Two Towers Adventure. The Two Towers Adventure is for ages 3 to 17 but I will say it is really geared towards the younger kids. My daughter got pretty bored quickly, but she is also a daredevil and would have done the Eight Tower Adventure if she could.

The Two Towers Adventure features:

  • 12 feet high in the safety-netted structures
  • 30 fun elements
  • No harnesses or helmets required
  • One-of-a-kind play area in a gated area

They had bouldering as well which is like rock climbing that they could have done but I didn’t know about beforehand.

So what did I do with our dog?

The Forge: Lemont Quarries is dog-friendly! Obviously, you can’t bring a dog on the tower course but there are tons of trails to walk around and best of all it is free to do so! My dog was in his glory exploring and loved that all my kids were able to have fun.

What else is there to do at The Forge: Lemont Quarries?

We honestly cannot wait to go back but after spending 4 hours there in 90 degrees I admit we were ready to go home for the day. Not sure what you want to do? Don’t forget it is free to walk around and check everything out then make your decisions but really you could spend days there.

  • Paddlesports
  • Biking
  • Laser Tag
  • Adventure Games
  • Running
  • Yoga

I think the best value is the Ultimate Adventure Day Pass but you can buy everything a la carte as well. Definitely do check out The Forge: Lemont Quarries website for height, weight and age restrictions as well as times things are available.
