Tips for a Paranormal Investigation of Your Own House

Have you heard strange noises in your home? Maybe you’ve been finding things in places where you are sure you didn’t place them. Perhaps your keys have somehow ended up in your basement even though you never stepped foot in the basement. Maybe your house has a strange odor, like the smell of sulfur that you can’t get rid of even though you’ve tried using a large room air purifier from Vremi to improve your indoor air quality and eliminate gaseous pollutants in the house. These are signs that your house may be haunted, and you might want to do a paranormal investigation in your home.

You may not want to go through the trouble of hiring professional paranormal investigators. They can be expensive to find in your local area unless you live in a haunted city. An example of a haunted city is Savannah, GA. The historic district provides a few Savannah haunted tours that show paranormal activity dating back to the early 1900s.

If you want to ask an expert for advice and live in Savannah, try booking a Savanna ghost tour, as they do everything from carriage to walking tours. If you live in an area where ghost hunters aren’t easy to find, there are a few things you can do on your own to find out if you have a ghost in your master bedroom. Here are some tips to help you get to the bottom of things.

Don’t investigate alone.

The best advice for people looking to do their first paranormal investigations is never to investigate alone. Though you may be hesitant to call a professional paranormal investigator because of COVID-19 restrictions, make sure you have a witness. Your witness can be an experienced ghost hunter or a close friend capable of keeping a level head in intense situations. Experiencing paranormal activity can be terrifying and challenging to deal with, so it’s always a good idea to have someone you trust around. If you find evidence of ghosts, it’s nice to have someone there to bear witness to your findings. If anything goes wrong and you lose your cellphone or Wi-Fi service, you won’t be on your own.

Bring the proper equipment.

Make sure you and any witnesses you bring along for your investigation come prepared. If you watch paranormal investigation shows like the Travel channel’s show “Paranormal Caught on Camera,” you will notice that they are all prepared for these investigations with the correct equipment. More and more shows have advised on what type of equipment you should carry for these paranormal investigations. Here are some appliances you may need:

  • Flashlight: Carry more than one flashlight, especially if you plan on doing your investigations in the evening.
  • Cameras: Bring a camera to capture things. Most people are skeptical that paranormal activity is real, and photographic evidence will stop a skeptic in their tracks.
  • Audio recording device: Sometimes, the audio on cameras fails even in the best conditions. It’s a good idea to bring alternative sound recording devices to monitor noise levels. You’ll need a proper high-quality recording device, similar to the ones from SpiritShack. Not a toy one!
  • EMF recorder: These aren’t as easy to find as the other items on this list, but it’s recommended that you bring paranormal activity sensors.

Having the proper equipment can save you a lot of time.

Investigate in the daytime.

Tempting as it may be to stake out in your living room at midnight, it isn’t the best way to go about things. For safety reasons, please do your sleuthing in the daytime. Investigating in the daylight even helps if the problem turns out to be an air quality issue that your air quality monitors didn’t pick up. The suspicious odors that you noticed may signify that you need to call a professional to install a new air purifier. It will be much easier to speak to their customer service and quickly resolve problems in the daytime.

Keep a level head.

The worst thing you can do when you’re conducting your paranormal investigation is panic. Keeping a level head is an important factor. Stay calm, take notes, and avoid jumping to conclusions about what you may experience. Even if you have someone on the scene with you, let someone who isn’t on the location know where and what you will be doing. If it becomes too much for you to handle, consider finding a professional ghost hunter.

Good luck!
