5 Easy Hobbies to Enjoy During Your Downtime

In the age of social media and Netflix, it’s important to still have other hobbies. There are lots of fun and easy ones to pick from, and this guide has gathered together a list of the top 5 for you to try. Remember, there’s no better way to enjoy this summer than adopting a new hobby!

  1. Play roulette casino games

Even when the weather is super-hot, it’s still fun to try indoor hobbies. If you’ve been searching for the perfect indoor hobby, then a perfect place to start is by joining an online casino to play roulette.

Nowadays, millions of people play roulette games as a hobby. Not only is this a great way to de-stress and unwind, but it’s also excellent for developing your gambling skills. In fact, many people who play roulette against a computer online eventually progress to live casinos where they can compete against other players. This is a mature hobby to have, though, so make sure your casino knowledge is up-to-scratch first!

When you’re ready, you’ll need to join an online operator to play online roulette. From there, it’s a case of choosing which roulette game you like the look of and developing your skills.

If you’re a more casual type of player, you should also try the online versions of:

  • Slots
  • Poker
  • Blackjack

These games are very beginner-friendly, as the rules and gameplay are straightforward and simple.

If you prefer strategy-based games, then it’s a good idea to try games like video poker, where you need to formulate the strongest possible 5-card hand to win as much as possible.

  1. Stream or watch video games on Twitch

By now, you’ve probably heard about Twitch. It’s a live streaming platform – similar to YouTube – that’s based around video games. Here, you can stream your own content or watch content provided by other people. This makes it a perfect platform for fans of video games.

For example, if you’re passionate about a particular game franchise, such as Call of Duty, then you could stream Call of Duty content on Twitch for other people to watch and engage with. Over time, you’ll gradually build up your audience and gain subscribers (providing your content is good, of course!).

Also, whenever you’re bored, you can watch other streamers on Twitch to experience some gaming entertainment. You can find streamers for any major game that you like, whether it’s Fortnite or COD: Warzone.

  1. Make your own pizza

Have you ever tried making your own pizza before? It’s a lot of fun and a great hobby to have. After all, cooking pizza is a lot easier compared to other foods that are more complex.

In a nutshell, to make a pizza you need:

  • A baking sheet
  • A rolling pin
  • A spoon (wooden or metal)

In addition to this, for the pizza itself, you need:

  • Dough (you can make your own or buy)
  • Sauce
  • Toppings

Once you have all your equipment, you need to roll out your dough using the rolling pin. Once it’s the perfect shape, you then add the sauce around it followed by the toppings you’ve chosen. After that, you need to put the pizza in the oven to bake it for around 10-15 minutes.

Over time, you’ll become more experienced at this and will be able to make better and more complex pizzas with a variety of toppings!

  1. Start your own side business

If you’ve ever felt like starting your own side business, now is the time to do it. Currently, millions of people run their own side businesses. Some do it as a hobby, whilst others use it as a tool to make extra cash.

The best place to start is by thinking of your own business idea. This could be anything; from selling t-shirts online to providing a freelance service to people, such as language translation.

After coming up with an idea, the next place is to find your platform. For example, if you’re going to sell homemade t-shirts, then you can use free selling platforms like Shopify to do this.

Or, if you’re selling particular services, you can find clients on a variety of websites, from Upwork to Fiverr.

Remember, running your own side business means you’ll need to pay taxes if you earn above a certain amount over a year!

  1. Pottery-making

Lastly, you can try pottery-making

If you want to do pottery at home, then you’ll need:

  • Clay
  • A pottery wheel
  • Tools for sculpting (brushers, needles, scrappers)

Once you have your equipment ready, you can start testing your pottery skills. There are lots of pottery channels on YouTube – such as Simon Leach – that provide pottery-making tutorials for both beginners and experts. Have fun
