Renovation Resolutions

As we approach the end of 2022, many of us are deciding what we want to do with the blank canvas of a year ahead of us. December is a great time to lay plans in place, so you can get started on some of your resolutions from the get go in January. There are, of course, a whole host of different things you can do, but one area that can really help to improve your day to day life is some home improvement. We spend a whole lot of time in our homes, with most of us spending more time here than anywhere else. It’s what we spend the most money on. It’s where we spend some quality time with friends, family and anyone else we want to host. It’s really not all too surprising that we want the space to look good, be functional and be worthy of our pride. Here are a few home improvement resolutions you might want to schedule for 2023!

Flooring

Flooring tends to fall under the radar when we plan home changes. But our floors take up most of the visual field when we’re looking at any space. So, why not show yours the TLC it deserves? Of course, different types of flooring suit different spaces. For bedrooms and lounges, thick pile carpets tend to be cosy and create a warm, relaxing atmosphere. Looped pile, or short pile, carpets suit heavier footfall areas, such as hallways or stairs. If you’re planning on making a change to your kitchen or bathroom – spaces that are consistently exposed to water and moisture – mexican saltillo tile or laminate is often a preferable option. If you want to go all out, why not consider some underfloor heating?

Walls

Walls are another feature that we don’t think about but that hugely impact the look and feel of a room. This is where your colour palette will establish itself. Consider what colours you’d be interested in painting your walls. There’s a huge spectrum of shades out there. Bright and bold, dark and mysterious, pretty pastel, minimalist neutrals… the world is your oyster. Just make sure to buy some sample pots and try them out on your wall. This will help you to see how they dry and whether they look good in the lighting in your room. Once you’ve chosen your shade, hire a professional painter decorator to lift the weight from your shoulders, or cover your belongings and floors and take a DIY approach.

Major Renovations

There are, of course, some more major projects you can look into. These will require planning permission, support from architects and qualified contractors to bring to life. Common options include an en suite, extensions, loft conversions and more!

At least one of the options outlined above should call to you. Hopefully, the one you choose will tick all your boxes!
