5 Reasons to Travel on Norwegian Cruise Line

My husband and I went on our first cruise on our honeymoon about 20 years ago and ever since we were hooked. We took a break because we had kids pretty quick and got busy with them but since they got a little older we have been on seven now as a family. I love that we get to travel to other countries safely and otherwise my kids are contained on the ship so I don’t worry as much. I will say too that I do not like smaller books and get a little seasickness but I am totally fine on the cruise ship, but I do bring Dramamine just in case. This was our first time on Norwegian Cruise Line and it was definitely one we’d go back to.

Here are 5 reasons we loved Norwegian Cruise Line:

So many deals are constantly offered. We got to take advantage of a Buy 1 Get 1 Drink Special so that saved us money on alcohol and kids got free sodas. This can definitely add up because its easy to splurge when your on vacation.

Great entertainment! We saw Choir of Men which is a broadway musical and it was amazing. Even my teens who I had to drag to come with enjoyed it better than they thought they would. The show is actually coming to Chicago, same guys which shows how amazing the talent is that cruise ships gets. We also saw a few comedy shows and magic shows, all equally impressive.

Great destination choices for ports. We actually had 4 stops and all of them were perfect and we had never been with other ships. This was the first time we did not book excursions either because we were cutting costs and we did not feel like we lacked anything. A lot of countries in the Caribbean do kind of seem similar but they all have their history and something that makes them unique. I love my kids seeing how other people live and their cultures.

Amazing food. I have no complaints about the food at all, I mean from the buffet to the restaurants to quick service, everything was good and we definitely missed it coming home! I definitely over-indulged on food there! I even talked with the chefs because my middle child has food allergies and he helped us navigate safe foods. Other than the buffet and main dining restaurants, there are also quick restaurants you can pop in and order food from 24 hours a day!

Texting on the ship via the NCL app! Before we left I looked at adding phone service but it was expensive and I didn’t wan to add to all five of our phones. On the ship there was packages but again costly and our package did include 100 internet minutes for four of us so we made due with those minutes. I was worried about how we would reach our teens since they were off on their own but Norwegian has texting which was $10 a phone for the whole time via their NCL (Norwegian Cruise Line) app and while it was a little delayed at times it definitely helped for us to pop on and see messages for each other. I would definitely recommend for families with teens!

While I shared five reasons we loved Norwegian Cruise Line there are definitely more but those are ones that stood out from other cruise lines we have used. We are actually planning on another one this year and going to try out a different boat of theirs, luckily there are a lot of choices!
