Dominicks (Safeway) Shopping Deals!

I had another great shopping trip at Dominick’s that I wanted to share. If you are not from Chicagoland, Safeway also owns Vons, Pavillions, Genuardi’s, Carrs Safeway, Randalls, and Tom Thumb stores throughout the US and Canada. As I have said before since I moved and now live the closest to a Dominick’s store, I decided to give them another shot even though their prices have disappointed me in the past.

Well within the last few months, Dominick’s has stepped up to the plate and lowered their prices on thousands of everyday prices. Their prices are now very competitive to other stores, and some items I found are actually cheaper than what I am used to. Safeway is slowly hitting each of their stores to lower prices, so keep an eye out for yellow shelf tags that have the old price crossed out and try to believe how low the new price is!

Every week Dominick’s has great deals and here are some of the deals that I received on one of my shopping trips:

• Eight O’Clock Whole Bean Coffee 12 oz. $3.99
• Bread Crumbs $1.89
• Apple Juice $1.68
• Triscuits $0.99
• 48-ounce box of cheese slices $5.99
• Gallon Whole Milk $1.70
• 32-ounce Yogurt $1.99
• Tamales $0.79
• Pizza Rolls $3.00
• 24 –ounce frozen Teriyaki Beef dinner (yummy!) $4.99
• Bread $2.19
• One-pound deli ham $5.44

Safeway stores also accept coupons and they even feature their own coupons in their weekly ads. You want to make sure you have a Rewards Club, which is of course free. I like it though that if you forget your card, you can just give them your phone number.

My total bill was $135.52 and I honestly feel I did good, especially since I had my two kids with me who kept climbing out of the car-cart and throwing food in the cart! I didn’t get everything I would have liked and I didn’t check prices as much as I would have liked, but I still think I did okay. I haven’t been feeling the greatest and have a lot going on, so I did buy a lot of frozen meals which usually cost more than homemade, but it works for us and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.

Overall, I am happy with my purchase and definitely will be heading back to Dominick’s in a few weeks when I am ready to shop again! I also don’t mind paying a little more for the cleanliness and quality of items that I can always find there.

So next time you are checking out your weekly grocery ads or if you don’t believe me about Safeway’s great deals, then check out the Safeway stores weekly ads in your area!
