Dominicks (Safeway) Shopping Trip Review

So like I have said in past posts, I am now a Safeway grocery lover. In Chicagoland, we have Dominick’s stores but Safeway also owns Vons, Pavillions, Genuardi’s, Carrs Safeway, Randalls, and Tom Thumb throughout the US and Canada. Since we moved back in July I have been trying out all the different grocery stores in my area and so far Dominick’s is my favorite. My old neighborhood pretty had one main grocery store, but now I have so many choices that I am not sure if it is a good or bad thing. It can definitely be overwhelming looking at all the different grocery store weekly ads.

Dominick’s though is now my main grocery store as their prices are pretty good on everything. Now if you shopped at a Safeway store in past years you may have stopped because their prices were high, but now they have lowered their prices on thousands of everyday items. Honestly I was one of those discouraged shoppers that stopped shopping at Dominick’s but now it is my favorite store and it is actually my closest grocery store.

Every week Dominick’s has great deals and here are some of the deals that I received on one of my shopping trips:

12 ct. eggs = $0.99
1 gallon whole milk = $2.28
1 gallon 2% milk = $1.70
Hamburger / hot dog buns = $1.19
Tyson Chicken Nuggets = $5.99
Safeway Pasta Sauce = $1.99
Eight O’Clock whole bean coffee = $5.99

Safeway stores also accept coupons and they even feature their own coupons in their weekly ads. You want to make sure you have a Rewards Club, which is of course free. I like it though that if you forget your card, you can just give them your phone number.

My total bill was $150.22 and I honestly feel I did good, especially since I had my two kids with me and that always adds money to the bill! Oh and my Dominick’s stores also had shopping carts for kids that have the car thing in the front and they also have shopping carts with little TVs in them that if you had to deal with kids climbing out of carts, then you know how awesome these shopping carts can be!

Not only are Dominick’s stores prices reasonable and some are down right cheap, they also are the cleanest and biggest stores I have been in. Everytime I shop there, I just feel like I am shopping in an upscale store but with reasonable prices, like the T.J. Maxx of grocery stores! The aisles are spacious and not overcrowded with displays and everything is so nicely displayed.
So next time you are checking out your weekly grocery ads or if you don’t believe me about Safeway’s great deals, then check out the Safeway stores weekly ads in your area.
