Well now SleepyWrap has stepped it up and is introducing the Boba Organic. The Boba Carrier is so much more than a typical baby carrier. It actually is meant to accommodate children ages 1-4 years old that weigh 15-45 pounds. This carrier is different than their SleepyWrap because it does have a few straps and buckles, but that is only because toddlers weigh a little bit more than newborns and need more support.
Boba Features:
• Offers footstraps so your child’s feet are not dangling
• One size fits most adults – easily adjustable.
• Made with Organic Cotton
• Machine Washable – this is a must!
• Safety buckle to prevent unintended release
• The carrier only weighs 1.5 pounds!
I received the Boba Carrier to check out and I tried it with both of my sons, 16 months and 33 months, and both boys enjoyed it. I honestly didn’t think they would let me put them in it, but they were as curious as I was. I actually think this product is ingenious because as much as my boys want their independence they also have their lazy moments and times when its not appropriate for them to walk. Hiking, Sightseeing, Festivals, and other times when a stroller is not very convenient but you still need a way to lift them up and carry your child.
When I first tried on the Boba I admit I didn’t think my sons would like it and I thought it would be uncomfortable for me. Well it wasn’t. I was able to easily get my sons in and out as it is only 2 snaps that you need to click together and then make sure the straps are adjusted right. I did enjoy the way it kept my sons close to me and it prevents the “leaning away from you” feeling. Other carriers I ended up holding my sons because I was afraid they would slip out or fall, but with the Boba I felt confident that they would be fine. I did find that it was more comftable wearing them in the back for me and since they are 16 months and 32 months that don’t really want to snuggle in front with me. Strangely my 32 month old really enjoyed being in the carrier as it was basically a safer and glorified piggy back. I found too that it was easy to get them in and out quickly but it did take a few tries to get completely comfortable.
I know there are tons of child carriers out there, and the only other carrier I have tried is the Baby Bjorn, but the SleepyWrap and Boba Organic are definitely my favorite. I have heard horror stories of babies slipping out, buckles digging into moms and the child, and back pain from carrying the child, but I have yet to experience any discomfort nor has either of my boys complained.
