My mom tells me stories of how awful it was to take our temperatures when we were children. You either got it the rectal way (ow!), your armpit, or your mouth, depending on age and how good you sat still! Well now there is a new thermometer that is fast, accurate and non invasive! You can take it while the child is asleep or awake and it is so simple!
The Digital Temple Thermometer is a thermometer that uses a unique sensor called the Rapid Accurate Temperature Establishment (R.A.T.E.) to rapidly sample the heat flowing from the blood vessels to the skin surface and then it translates it accurately to body temperature. You just push a button to turn it on, wait for two short beeps, then place the sensor on the temple (or underarm) for 6-8 seconds.
I tried this out with my 17 month old and 35 month old and it was definitely easier and quicker to use than our old stick one. I like that I can sneak into their bedrooms too and test out their temperature and not wake them. This would be a great gift for a new mom or a mom looking for a new thermometer solution!
You can read more about the thermometer and check out some great tips for parents at the Temple Touch website or ask @TempleTouchMom on Twitter!
