PicPocket Books iPhone App. Review & Giveaway (Ends 12/29)

As I have said before my 35-month old son loves my iPod Touch.  I actually think he can work it better than me and he knows how to get to all his apps and more!  Other than games, I try to download books too but they have to be more than just a story to keep Aidan’s attention.   PicPocket Books offers exactly what I was looking for!  They offer the largest selection of picture books for the iPhone from a wide range of classic content from established publishers.  The books include published board books, concept books, easy readers, fairy tales, and other culturally diverse picture books.

PicPocket Books Features:

LOOK – Check out the same pretty pictures featured in the printed book!

LISTEN – A narrator will recite the story for your child to listen to and coming soon, friends and
family will be able to read and record the story in their own voices!

TOUCH – Your child can easily turn the pages or let the page turn automatically!

LEARN – Your child will learn to read as words will highlight, as the test is read and replay when touched for on-the-go education.

I received the opportunity to review Monster Trucks (Big Stuff) by Robert Gould, which is for ages 2-6 years old.  It is a book full of you guessed it…monster trucks!  It features colorful graphics yet realistic looking trucks.  Aidan pauses the book, skips to the next page, clicks on words, and loves it both with and without the narration.  It is also cute how there are photos of actual kids too which Aidan points at too!  The only flaw I have noticed with this particular storybook is that to turn the pages, you have to click an arrow at the bottom, which can be difficult to see, but once Aidan got the hang of it he was fine.  You can have the pages turn automatically but it is slower than my impatient son would like!

Overall, I love the idea of how PicPocketBooks is based off real books.  Not than actual books aren’t important, but with today’s technology, books on the an iPhone or iPod Touch just make it easier to have your child’s favorite book with you at all times!  I definitely will be checking out more of the PicPocketBooks!

BUY IT:  You can download PicPocketBooks at the Apple App Store for $0.99 – $3.99 per book.

GIVEAWAY:  One winner will receive a code for a free PicPocketBook of your choice!  (It will definitely be hard to choose just one!)
