Rock ‘N Learn DVD Review & Giveaway – US/CAN (Ends 5/27)

Rock ‘N Learn, Inc. is a company started by a school psychologist, Richard, who saw the need for multi-sensory learning programs through kids music.  So Richard got his brother the musician involved and his wife, a former second-grade teacher and with the help of Richard’s wife managing sales and marketing, the company grew.  Rock N’ Learn has even received numerous awards such as Dr. Toy, Parents’ Choice, iParenting, National Parenting Publications, Learning Magazine Teacher’s Choice, and more!

So now for over 23 years, Rock ‘N Learn has been producing cool educational music and videos to encourage learning! They offer award-winning programs for preschool, math, social studies, languages, and science as well as educational DVDs for older kids who need help with test-taking and state mandated standardized tests.  So if you have tried workbooks, textbooks, tutors, these educational yet entertaining DVDs are ready to help!

There are two ways to search for products on Rock ‘Learn, you can either shop by Age (my favorite) or shop by subject.  Once you are looking at the available products, it then says the format available, whether it be DVD or CD & Book .  You can even listen to Audio Samples or view Sample Pages if available.  There is also a detailed description of the product, contest list and quotes about the product!

MY THOUGHTS:

I came across Rock ‘N Learn when searching for educational videos for my sons.  They love tv and DVD’s and I figure if they are going to watch it, then I am going to push learning DVDs.  What I liked about Rock ‘N Learn from the beginning is that I was quickly able to search by age to see what products are even appropriate for what my boys should be learning now.  Oh and the other aspect that drew me to Rock ‘N Learn is that lessons are taught through music, as both my boys love anything with music.

Dance With the Animals is a 45 minute long DVD that includes more than 60 creatures and gives fun facts about them.  I could not believe all the animals they squeezed into this video, it is great!  My boys were captivated by this video and I never knew they liked animals that much!  There are animated animals, real-life animals, actual kids and lots of fun songs!  The video teaches Creative Movement, Motor Skills, Listening and following directions, and Knowledge about animals and their habitats. I definitely see us watching this DVD over and over and especially before/after we go to the zoo.  My favorite part is when the kids on the video mimic animals and encourages kids to do the same thing.  My boys were jumping and moving all over!  I would definitely recommend this DVD for any child, whether an animal lover or not, as it is super adorable and gets kids involved!

Alphabet Exercise is 37 minutes of fun!  Alphabet Al is the main leader and he goes through each letter of the alphabet doing an excerise or movemnet with each letter.  For example for T there is Twist, for Z there is move like a Zebra, for P there is Pick fruit off a tree.  The DVD also covers upper and lowercase letters and helps with vocabulary since it shows and sounds out a lot of words.  The DVD was actually developed by educators and a certified fitness trainer and includes stretching and isometric movements.  I don’t know if my boys were just being lazy but they didn’t do the motions as much as I thought they would.  We have tried twice and now that they are getting out of their winter slump, I think they will like it better.  I think it is adorable and the music is catchy!  It is a great way to get kids moving and learning some new moves!  Also, what better way to learn the alphabet then by exercising with it!
