ABOUT THE BOOK:

This book gives fathers the pat on the back they deserve. Children of all ages share their heartfelt words of thanks and loving memories in this collection of 101 stories. Personal accounts of learning from Dad’s example and lasting lessons, special moments and memorable outings, encouragement and expectations will bring any father joy, inspiration, and laughs. Whether the reader is a new dad, a father of teens, a father of grown children, or a grandfather, these heartwarming and humorous stories will resonate with him. He may even find that his kids did pay attention after all!

MY THOUGHTS:

My parents divorced when I was just 1 years old and a few years later they both remarried.  So growing up I basically had two dads and I never called my step-dad anything other than “dad.”  (Although my step-mom was never someone I could call “mom.”)  I am very fortunate to have a step-dad who never mistreated me or treated me different than any of the four children him and my mother had.  I definitely do think dads get taken for granted and in my case I was never “daddy’s little girl” but I don’t know what I would do without my dad.  We are in our third house and my dad has helped re-model each of them, sometimes driving the hour to our house for emergencies.  This Chicken Soup is a great book not only for children to read and appreciate their own dad more but for dads to read and realize how important they are.  All the stories are told from a family member about a dad and really could be told from anyone, as many of us have been in those situations.

Now my dad is definitely not one to sit down and read this book, nor is my husband, but I know it would be a great bathroom book for either of them!  The stories are only a few pages and can be picked up and read whenever.  The book is broken down into the following sections:  How Dads Say “I Love You”, Lessons for Life, Dad to the Rescue, Making Gray Hairs – Fathering Teenagers, Through Thick and Thin, Stepping Up to the Plate, Making the Ties that Bind, Everyday Heroes, Moments that Last F0rever, and Bonus Chapter – Truly Grand Dads.  There is a total of 107 stories!

This book would make a great Father’s Day present or just a present for any special dad in your life!
