The most gorgeous woman Nick Ward has ever laid eyes on is also the worst luck he’s ever had. Becca’s presence at this top-secret meeting place won’t just destroy the undercover operation he’s been working on, it’s liable to get them both killed. Instead, she’s discovering just how fearless she can be when innocent lives are at stake and white-hot desire is running through her veins. And she’ll need every ounce of that courage as she and Nick face off against an enemy more powerful and more ruthless than she could ever imagine…

MY THOUGHTS:

I have never read a Shannon McKenna book before, and I was not disappointed with this book.  It is a long book but a quick read because it is hard to put down!  The book features Becca Cattrell who goes skinny dipping in a neighbor’s pool while staying at a friend’s house.  Little did she know but Nick Ward, a former FBI agent, was having a secret meeting there with a bad guy.

Suddenly Becca is playing along and caught up with Nick and his plan.  She is a woman who loves bad boys and danger and finds Nick and his life irresistible.  The book has twists, turns, suspense, sex, danger, and so much more.  It is so many genres in one – mystery, thriller, and romance.  I found it very easy to follow along with the way the author portrays the characters and everything moved in sequence.  I hate when books jump around so much I get lost and I didn’t feel that from this book.  I am now curious about the rest of McKenna’s books and understand that her characters are spread out throughout them, including the McCloud brothers.

The book though is not for someone with a weak stomach.  It has swearing, violence, abuse and rape.  The story involves too children being sold and beaten, but it is just a book and the author of course portrays that as the bad part that the hero is trying to stop.  I also want to say the book starts off slow but gets better as you go on.
