Crafty Kids Shuttle Imagination Review (& Giveaway Ends 10/15)

ABOUT:

Crafty Kids, formerly known as Kids Craft Playhouses, was founded by parents who were amazed at how kids were drawn to empty cardboard boxes.  They saw how the kids used their imaginations and some crayons to design what they wanted.  The Crafty Kids products are also made with 100% recyclable cardboard materials and is 100% post play recyclable.

Crafty Kids has come out with two new craft sized models of their original creations:  Shuttle Imagination and Creation Cottage.  They are one-third the size of the original creations and half the price.

MY THOUGHTS:

Now my kids love cardboard boxes and you can imagine how many I get a week!  They sit in them, put their toys in them and stack them.  They are not too creative though yet as far as doing much else with them.  About six months ago I got the chance to check out the Kids Craft Creation Cottage (review) and my sons still play with it.  Yes, the cardboard cottage has survived this long as is still up in my basement!

Well I will say I am lucky enough to have room to keep the giant cardboard house up, but not many people do which is why I think it is great that Crafty Kids now has mini versions.  This time around I decided to check out the Shuttle Imagination which is a mini cardboard space shuttle for kids to decorate and play with.

Shuttle Imagination Craft Model

Made in the U.S.A using 100% recycled cardboard material, the Shuttle Imagination Craft Model will take your child on a new adventure every day. The craft model is approximately a one third scale model of our original Shuttle Imagination. It’s size makes it a perfect fit for in home or classroom craft time. The unique design allows for a sturdy drawing surface. The Shuttle Imagination is eco-friendly and encourages awareness of space travel education. Measurements

(Assembled): 14.5″L x 21.5″W x 22″H

The Shuttle Imagination is adorable!  It is pint sized (just about two feet tall)  but still big enough for both kids to sit and draw on.  The shuttle has star cutouts, doors, windows, and more.  It is super easy to build and requires no tools, but I since I have active boys I am going to use clear stong tape around the seams so it holds together better, you could also tape inside it or use a few small staples.  The cardboard is durable but strong and overall, the design is nice.  My boys had a blast when we opened it and started coloring it and there is still plenty of room to color.  Then my boys started putting stuff inside the rocket (including their own heads so they could see inside!)  The Shuttle does have a bottom so you can rest stuff inside to play.  Aidan also decided to carry it around and zoom around the house with it!

Overall, I think the Shuttle Imagination is adorable and a great idea.  The creative possibilities are endless as you can use stickers or other craft supplies to decorate it.  If you don’t have a space-loving child, there is also the Creation Cottage which would be so fun to decorate too and play with.  The best part about the kits though is they come flat so you can take them anywhere, build them, color them and leave them or dispose of them.  I think this would be great for long vacations or trips too, something to keep the kids busy in the hotel and then you could leave it there if you wanted.  It is not meant necessarily to be disposed off as it is sturdy to last but I just wanted to add that it is something that can be disposed of easily.
