MY THOUGHTS:

Bugs are just a natural curiosity to kids and my boys are no exception.  They are fascinated with all sorts of bugs and one of my boys will bravely pick it one up and the other one watches them from a distance.  The Early Science Explorer’s Set is great because it comes with kid-friendly plastic tweezers to help pick up bugs and then a big plastic magnifier to examine them.  My 4 year old carries the magnifier everyone with him!

The Big View Bug Jars are plastic jars the size of regular cups that have a plastic ladybug on the top of them.  You push the middle of the ladybug and it pops open to reveal a 3.5x magnifier.  This is great for kids who want to see bugs up close but are afraid of touching them or getting to close to them, since the bugs are contained within the jar.  There are even some breathing holes at the top of the jar, but they are pretty small so I wouldn’t worry about bugs coming out.  The plastic is not the most thickest plastic and I have a feeling if the jars were dropped they would crack easily but so far so good with us.  It’s funny my 2 year old will put the bugs in the jar for my 4 year old since he is the one afraid of them!  Oh and what is great about the Big View Bug Jars is that they are individually wrapped in the case so you could give them out to other kids as gifts, party favors, or whatever the occasion!  Both products – the Big View Bug Jars and Early Science Explorer’s Set – are kid-friendly plastic and sized perfect for little hands.  My boys will definitely be having a blast all summer examining and catching bugs!
