MY THOUGHTS:

Even though I have two boys, I love girly items.  One thing I have always wanted to try is making fashion accessories or jewelry beyond just stringing some beads on a string (that is all I know how to do!)  I used to do arts and crafts projects with my sister but since having my boys I haven’t had too much free time.

I think SmartLab Toys has so many great projects and love how they incorporate a book with each kit.  Whether it is playing a game, building a craft, or whatever, every kit has everything you need to complete and understand the project at hand!

I got the chance to check out the Snap Fashion Jewelry Studio and it is adorable!  It comes with everything to make a whole bunch of great fashion accessories including a necklace, ring, bracelet, button, locket, belt, shoe flair, keychain, earrings, ponytail holder and more!  The book “Snap It Up” is included and it has so many great ideas and pictures in it.  The instructions are clear and easy to read, although many do say to have an adult help.  The pictures are all really cool looking and make it hard not to jump right in and start snapping jewelry together!

The snap maker is very easy to use (no batteries required).  Just pick out the fabric, bases and design and push it all together.  The possibilities are endless as you can really get creative with the pieces!  I am all about necklaces and love that I can make myself a bunch of funky necklaces to match a whole bunch of outfits.    I know my 13 year old sister is going to like it too when she comes over to visit.  The only flaw is when you are done with the pieces you are done, as of right now there are no refill kits but SmartLab Toys says they plan on having one available in the future.  (Right now you can call and order additional pieces on an individual basis.)

SmartLab Toys is not just kits for girls either.  There are tons I know my boys would like and the prices are reasonable too.  I also think they are educational too since they come with a book as well as a toy.  For example, the Face Off! Air Hockey game comes with a book about the fun and physics of air hockey as well as the pieces to assemble the table.
