Mattel’s Green Lantern Toys Review

MY THOUGHTS:

My boys are just getting into superheros and while they don’t really know who the Green Lantern is, they are definitely enjoying the toys!  I got the chance to review three new Green Lantern toys and my boys were super exicted to test them out!

The first product is the Movie Master Naut Ke Loi collectible.  This is both a toy and collectible but of course my boys had no desire to keep it packaged up as a collectible!  They play with it like its an animal figurine and know that its a bad guy.  I haven’t seen the movie, but this figurine seems pretty well-crafted and I’m sure would impress any collector as well!  Outisde of the packaging he stands about 5-6 inches tall so he is not small and cheap either.  You can also build Parallax by purchasing additional figurines.

Next I got to check out the Green Lantern Colossal Cannon.  While normally I don’t like toys that shoot something (this toy shots plastic discs) it really did look cool in the packaging and I told them the first time they shoot a person with it is when the toy goes bye-bye.  This is a pretty big toy-like gun.  You put your hand in it and pull a simple trigger to shoot one of the ten discs included.  There are sounds and lights, which really makes the toy fun and exciting.  My husband even had to have a turn with it!  It is made of plastic and pretty durable and I don’t mind it as much because it is so big that it doesn’t look too much like a gun.  I do wish it came with more discs though as the capacity is ten and even though it came with ten, some extras would be nice (not sure if they sell them separately either.)  The Colossal Cannon is really easy to use after you load it and put your had in to pull the trigger, the hardest part is finding the discs afterward!

Finally, I got the chance to review the Green Lantern Battle Shifters Blade Attack Hal Jordan Figure.  It is a smaller 4-inch figure that comes with a battle shifters accessory that transforms into a missile-like shooter.  My 3 year old actually plays with this the most because it is smaller and he likes how the piece pops open into a shooting stand.  It is easy and while it is a weapon, its not really dangerous.  I do wish though it came with more than one missile as if you loose the one it came with you are out of luck pretty much.

Overall, now that my boys are getting older and into more boy-like toys, I have a feeling we will be buying a lot of superhero toys in the future.  I like that the Mattel brand’s toys have not only quality I can trust but a good selection of affordable products.

BUY IT:  Look for the new Green Lantern toys wherever toys are sold!
