OtterBox Defender Series for Apple iPad 2 Review

ABOUT:

OtterBox creates cases for all the klutzy, spontaneous, chaotic, graceless individuals who have broken a device or valuable due to an active lifestyle.  They have cases for phones, tablets, eReaders and more!

The OtterBox Defender Series for Apple iPad 2 is part of our most rugged line of cases, utilizing multi-layer technology and designed to withstand just about any environment. Don’t worry about losing any access or functionality by wrapping your iPad 2 in the Defender Series; we’ve designed it so you can use all of the iPad’s features right through the case. The inner polycarbonate shell has a foam interior to protect the back of your iPad from scratching, while the durable silicone skin works its magic by absorbing shock. The clip-on touch screen cover has a fold-out stand that offers up a convenient viewing and typing experience!

MY THOUGHTS:

With how much tech devices cost these days, I believe it is important to take care of them with a good case!  Cases are especially important when your device goes practically everywhere with you!  My husband tosses the iPad in his briefcase for work, I take it in my diaper bag for outings, or just using it around the house can be rough!

The OtterBox Defender Series case for our iPad 2 is either a case you love or you don’t, but after a month we are still using it.  First off, it is a pretty durable case with plastic inside and silicone on the outside so I would say it is durable.  My issue with it is that my boys keep pulling the silicone part off or just messing with it and then I have to re-do the whole cover.  If it was just my husabnd and I using our iPad 2, I think we’d be fine with this case but with young kids (3 and 4) it is too much fun to mess with.  I am able to get to all the ports on the device (including the camera) just fine and installation is pretty simple, although I admit I highly recommend watching the YouTube video on installation since it is a few steps. The OtterBox case also makes the iPad a little heavier but to make it durable I’d rather it have some weight to it, thin would make it feel like it wasn’t protecting it.

My favorite part of this case though is the stand which is a heavy plastic but it does the job.  It is not something I’d carry around all the time because it adds more bulk and weight, but for at home (or my husband’s desk) it is great to stand up the iPad to watch a movie or use the stand at the lower height to type.  You do not have to have the stand attached all the time, just use it when you need it. Other cases have a little stand built in the back but it may not be as durable or able to be used at different levels (low for typing or high for viewing.)

BUY IT: Look for the OtterBox Defender Series for Apple iPad 2 at your local stores or buy it directly from Otterbox for $89.95.
