MY THOUGHTS:
I wasn’t sure what to expect from the movie Bridesmaids, but when I heard it was from the same director as Superbad and Knocked Up I knew the movie would be good. What I liked even more about it was that it was a comedy featuring mainly women, and not typical humor. I don’t know exactly how to describe the humor in the movie other than to say there is profanity, sex talks, bodily functions, and women being women! So basically it reminds me of the movie “The Hangover” but starring all women!
What better way to watch a comedy starring women than with some great women friends! So I was sent a fun package to host a “Girls Night In” party at my house to watch “Bridesmaids!” If I would have had more time to plan and schedule the party I think it could have been even cooler, but either way it was a nice night away from kids drinking pink pina coladas (mine was unfortunately non-alcoholic) and snacking away! We had pizza, baked potato skins, popcorn, tons of candy, and a 4lb. box of Twizzlers! The only thing I will say is that it is hard to watch a movie with a group of people because someone is always talking or you need to pause the movie for bathroom breaks, so you miss parts. I actually think “Bridesmaids” would have been a lot funnier had I watched it straight-thru and alone but that just gives me the reason to watch it again!
Where we watched “Bridesmaids” (do you think my tv is big enough?!)
Some of our snacks:
“Bridesmaids” is a movie about two friends, one of which is getting married and the other is basically having a rough life. Annie (Kristen Wiig) seems to have everything going wrong while her friend is marrying up in life. Its not that she isn’t happy for her friend, she is just broke and preoccupied. Then Annie starts competing with another bridesmaid who basically gets re-assigned Maid of Honor duties. There are also three other bridesmaids you get to meet and all have great stories to them.
I laughed, I cried, I almost spit pink pina colada out of my nose throughout the movie. I also wouldn’t necessarily say this is a chick-flick since the humor is basically crude and its R-rated. I can definitely see myself watching this movie a few more times and it is a great movie to watch with a group of women, you just may miss a few lines here and there. I am also crossing my fingers for a Bridesmaids sequel!
Pink Pina Coladas – Regular pina colada mix with a splash of grenadine!
