INGREDIANTS:
DIRECTIONS:
Bake any cake mix as you normally would (I used a confetti cake mix from Aldi.) After cake is cooked and cooled completely, crumble into large bowl.
Mix thoroughly with 1 can frosting. (I used a whole can of Cream Cheese frosting but I think it was too much, so use half and work your way up – you don’t want the cake balls to be too mushy)
Roll mixture into quarter size balls and place on wax paper covered cookie sheet. (Since I used too much frosting, I had to put the whole bowl in the fridge for about 30 minutes so the mixture would get firm enough for me to roll into balls)
Melt chocolate in the microwave per directions on package. (30 sec intervals, stirring in between.)
Dip the tip of your lollipop stick in a little of the melted candy coating and insert into the cake balls. (Insert a little less than halfway.)
Place them in the freezer for a little while to firm up. (Otherwise they will fall apart when you try to dip them!)
Once firm, carefully insert the cake ball into the candy coating by holding the lollipop stick and rotating until covered. Once covered remove and softly tap and rotate until the excess chocolate falls off. Don’t tap too hard or the cake ball will fall off, too. (I found it easiest to hold the cake pop over the bowl and pour the chocolate coating over them and smooth it out that way, rather than dipping.)
Place in a Styrofoam block to dry. (If you are adding sprinkles do it now because they harden quick!)
Once dry, enjoy!
They may not be the prettiest but for my first time I was happy and everybody loved them!

I love to bake so would be making cake pops.
I've always wanted to make cake pops! Starbucks has a delicious Birthday Cake Pop which uses french vanilla cake mix, buttercream frosting, and pink white chocolate morsels....I think I'll be giving them a shot using this recipe. Thanks for sharing!
I bought a cake pop mold, I think I will try both ways, I never heard of putting the icing on the inside, sounds like a sugar rush!!
Oh and try this, they are awesome! http://momandmore.com/2012/02/recipe-pancake-pops.html
It is good both ways! With the icing inside it makes it creamier while the cake pop mold they are a little dry but quicker to make! I do it both ways!
Those look delicious!
I've always wanted to try these cake pops out, and now that I have a recipe, I can :)
They are so yummy! I actually just got a Cake Pop maker from Kohls last weekend and while they are a lot easier to make they aren't as yummy since they don't have the cream cheese frosting inside!
I so wish I would've seen this post last night! I attempted hand made cake pops for my daughters birthday and did the whole can of frosting as someone suggested. My cake mix was way to soggy and I never thought of putting it in the fridge to harden up! =0( I threw out the whole entire project and am just making a cake for her birthday today! Darn it!
I made the morning of the son's birthday party for the first time because I figured how hard could it be! I was freaking out and then figured the fridge couldn't hurt them, and luckily saved them! Good luck next time! I also just got a Cake Pop maker from Kohl's last weekend and while they are really easy to make I don't think they are as yummy since they don't have the frosting inside!
I think they came out great! I've been wanting to try them myself, but haven't had a chance.
