Data Plan – Smartphone, Tablet or Both? #VZWSS

Okay so yes I am a blogger (and have been for almost four years now) but no I do not use a smartphone.  Well I technically do have a smartphone but I don’t have a data plan on it.  I luckily have the option of WiFi so I can check my email/Facebook/Twitter from it, but I just can’t justify a data plan on that small screen – especially when I am home or somewhere with WiFi most of the time.  I mean we pay for Internet on my husband’s phone and at home, I figured I could live without Internet on my phone.

Well while I do still feel I don’t need Internet on my phone (that screen and buttons  is just too small for me to do anything really useful anyways) I honestly don’t think I could go without Internet on my Droid Xyboard Tablet.  For just about $20 a month through Verizon I not only get Internet but 4G Internet (yeah for 4G in my area!)  Fast Internet? Check! Big screen/buttons? Check! Portable? Check! I carry my Droid tablet everywhere with me, its on my mental checklist for leaving the house.  Yes its another thing to carry in addition to my cell phone, but I can actually work on it!  To me a cell phone allows you to do basic surfing and social media tasks but maybe its just me when but I need a big screen! And for the same price of a data plan on my cell phone, I’d rather pay for a data plan for my tablet.

My Droid Xyboard has become my 4th child!  It goes everywhere with me and I worry about it when I am away from it.  Yes it has its quirks (the battery doesn’t seem to last as long as I’d like) and it freezes (but I should mention that I am probably doing too much at once on it) but I wouldn’t get rid of it for anything!  If I too am going to pay for something (data plan) then I might as well get my use out of it!  Yes I’d love to have smartphone capabilities on my cell phone, but if I have to pay (and can afford only one) then I choose my tablet.

  • If I had data on my tablet I may never interact with another person face to face lol Having wifi only on it makes it less worth carrying everywhere with me. I would totally get more use if it had data
