Melissa and Doug Trunki {Review} Super Cute and Functional Suitcase!

I don’t know why but I think little kid suitcases are just so cute.  My boys never had one, but since girls tend to carry a lot of stuff around with them, I figured Olivia would like one.  Whether it be for a weekend at grandma’s, using as a carry-on for a flight or just to carry around toys, the Trunki by Melissa and Doug is absolutely adorable!  It is a kid-sized suitcase perfect for little ones to pack all their necessities (and of course toys) and they can even ride it as a pull-along riding toy.

Features:

  • Airline carry on approved
  • Suitable for kids to ride on (while scooting themselves or a parent pulling them with the included strap)
  • Sturdy-hard shell
  • Available in fun colors
  • 5 gallon capacity
  • Has straps to secure items inside
  • Locks (use included and attached plastic key to open)
  • Lightweight
  • Measures:  18.25″ x 8.63″ x 12″

Honestly the Trunki is the perfect size for kids.  Now while I have read some reviews about it not holding much, I was skeptical at how much I could actually fit in it.  I was able to fit a weekends worth of outfits and pjs for Olivia, some toys and I stil had room.  Now yes her clothes are small, but I also think as she gets older her clothes may get bigger but her toys won’t be as bulky.  I definitely see this being useful from birth (of course the child can’t ride it though until he/she is 3 years old) through at least 7 years old.  The suitcase is that hard plastic-shell material so it can stand up to traveling-use and it really fits a decent amount if you pack it right.

It even fits Olivia 🙂

Olivia had fun with the box too (Don’t worry I don’t encourage my children to put boxes on their heads):

I would absolutely recommend the Trunki for any young child who wants a suitcase (or carrying bag) of their own.  It is just too cute to pass up and there isn’t anything I don’t like about it.  I love too that it is airline approved for use as a carryon so when we do go on a flight with the kids, at least one of us will have a fashionable and functional suitcase.  With the included carrying strap you can also pull your child (gently of course) through the airport because we all know how tired their little legs can get.  Overall, we love the Trunki and know we will get our use out of it.

They also have a blue Trunki and a Saddle Bag:
