My boys are 4 and 6 and they play rough, and when I say rough I mean hole-in-the-knee rough. Last year I threw away three pairs of pants that were pretty much brand new because they tore up the knees. I was so bummed and out to the garbage they went. Since then I have bought cheaper pants that they could play in but aren’t always the best looking, but hey they were cheap!
Well Carhartt has taken on this tough challenge or creating clothes for kids who play hard! It makes total sense to me as Carhartt is the brand my dad trusts to be durable workwear. Carhartt has been perfecting their leading brand for 124 years now so I think they know what they are doing! The new Carhartt children’s jeans are made to last longer than traditional jeans, with 10-10.5 ounce, 100% percent cotton premium denim, with triple strict construction and five-pocket features provide extra strength and durability. And yes they come in sizes from 4-16 for boys and girls. I have no doubt my daughter will be a tom-boy and play rough like her brothers so I will definitely be keeping Carhartt in the back of my mind for when she is bigger!
So I admit I was excited for the challenge of having my 6 year old wear his new Carhartts to not only look nice but be able to actually play in his jeans! So far we haven’t been outside too much because of the crazy weather here in Chicago but he has sledded in them once so far (of course without snow pants) and just feeling them you can tell the difference. Its not that the pants are heavier than others, but they are just made with a thicker material and held together tighter.

Overall, I am a huge fan of the Carhartt jeans for kids and they are worth it for the extra money they cost. Yes they are a little more than some other brands but they will last. This is especially a big deal for me since I rely on the jeans lasting through both of my boys. It also ends up costing more anyways if you have to replace jeans because your kids got a hole-in-the-knee (two pairs of cheap jeans are usually more than one pair of Carhartt jeans.) Since my boys live in their jeans (they’d sleep in them if I let them) I don’t mind spending the money for a high quality product we will get our use of. I love too how nice the jeans look, as my boys can wear them to school and look presentable and then come home and play in the dirt!
Love this closure, my son has trouble with buttons and this hook closure is so much easier for him.
Love that they show the height and weight suggestions for sizes, since sometimes my kids are in-between sizes.
