New Peaceable Kingdom Stickers & Cooperative Games

Don’t get me wrong, I believe in competition and that there are winners and losers, but I also like teamwork.  Board games are something that can be especially tough for young kids who are just building their confidence and decision-making skills.  Peaceable Kingdom has created a line of games that promote family-fun in a non-competitive way.  “Cooperative Games” emphasive gameplay, not competition, by having the players work together, help each other out and of course have fun!  Peaceable Kingdom has actually established itself as THE cooperative game company with their new 2013 offerings.

My family loves the Cooperative Games, we have a few of them from Peaceable Kingdom already, and we were excited to check out the new game “The Great Cheese Chase.”

The Great Cheese Chase

     

Players work together to move the three mice up the path and into the attic for a cheese party! But beware of the cat – if he pounces on a mouse on the path, the mouse goes back to start and the long climb up begins again. Get all three mice to the attic before the cat and you all win! Recommended for 2 – 6 players, ages 5 and up.

Each game includes:

• 1 Game Board
• 4 Catnip Tokens
• 3 Mice
• 1 Cat With Stand
• 1 Spinner

This game is 100% green. All printing is done with soy inks on FSC paper, and parts are made with corn-based plastic.

When my 6 year old old saw the game, I admit he thought it was cheesy (hahaha) and didn’t want to play.  So I started playing with my 4 year old and he immediately jumped it.  The game is pretty simple to set up and play, but it does have those hidden Cooperative-elements in there.  My boys had to work together to decide which mouse to move each time to avoid the cat.  There was no “I’m going to win!” or “I’m beating you.”  We made a decision as a team which mouse to move after each spin.  Then if we earned a catnip piece we decided as a team when to use it.  I was really impressed with how quickly they picked up the game and strategized!  They learned how if they didn’t think about the other pieces that those pieces could get knocked by the cat and go back to the beginning and if that happened it only delayed them winning as a team.  This is a great game for beginners and while it is simple for young kids to start off with, it is fun that even older kids (and adults) want to play. The whole game probably took us 15 minutes and they wanted to play again and again of course!

In addition to games, Peaceable Kingdom is also known for their fabulous stickers.  They have come out with some new-style stickers that literally glow-in-the-dark, dance and flicker, pop out via 3D glasses and more!

Go back in time with the dinosaurs! Comes with over 50 stickers! Activities include: Create-A-Scene, Dinosaur Skeleton, Match-Up, Puzzle and Collector Cards.

This sticker book is not just your typical sticker book.  The pages are thicker and laminated so you can reposition stickers if you need to. My 4 year old had a blast with this book and spent probably an hour looking through this book and repositioning the stickers.  He was actually so excited to find out he could move the stickers if he made a mistake or just wanted it somewhere else.  There is a little bit of everything in it with the five activities included in this six page book.  He was bummed when it was all filled out but was happy to keep it as a book to look through since it contained so many pictures of dinosaurs and dino facts.

Overall, Peaceable Kingdom is a company that we love in my household.  I love that I can trust the quality, afford the products and know that my kids will love whatever we get from them.
