Some Bears & A Monkey From Phase 4 Films {Review}

Disclosure: I was sent this DVD to review in exchange for my honest opinion.

Phase 4 Films has come out with three new DVDs that my family and I got to check out:  “MVP” “MVP 2” and “Berenstain Bears DVD Box Set.”

MVP

Released: March 19, 2013

Studio:  Phase 4 Films

Running Time:  93 minutes

When Jack, a sign language-speaking chimp, is sold to a research lab, he makes a break for freedom – and ends up stranded in the frozen northlands. Befriended by two teens, Jack’s talent for ice skating soon turns him into the local hockey team’s secret weapon. Now, playoffs are in full swing. The lab officials are closing in. And Jack has one chance to prove that when it comes to skating away with the affections of an entire town, he doesn’t monkey around!

This is an adorable family movie that is sure to make any kid smile, I mean how could you not when there is a hockey playing monkey involved!  Yes this movie features a monkey that learns to skate and play hockey, with lots of mischief and cuteness throughout the whole movie!  My boys (4 and 6) especially loved this movie because they are learning hockey and thought it was so silly to see a monkey doing it.  While this movie may not be for everyone, it is really a cute movie for the whole family to watch and laugh together at.

MVP 2

Released: March 19, 2013

Studio:  Phase 4 Films

Running Time:  93 minutes

From the makers of Air Bud, the Most Valuable Playmate is going vertical! Jack is back, and this time he’s traded in his hockey skates for a skateboard! When the beloved chimp is framed for something he didn’t do, he ends up lost and alone in a strange city. Befriended by Ben, a shy skateboard kid, Jack reveals a hidden talent for totally awesome skateboard tricks!

Okay first there was a monkey playing ice hockey and now he skateboards?  Adorable!  Again this movie is not for everyone but it is a cute and wholesome movie for the whole family to watch.  This time Jack ends up lost (again) and meets some new friends.  It is a comedy full of mischief and silliness.  My boys (4 and 6) asked to watch it again after it was over.  It is a simple movie that made both my kids and I laugh.

The Berenstain Bears DVD Collection

 Released: November 6, 2012

Studio:  Phase 4 Films

Running Time:  165 minutes

Set in the rolling hills of Bear Country, this animated comedy stars a fun loving family of honey Bears whose love, loyalty and humor allow them to overcome any obstacle that finds its way down to their sunny dirt road. The funny, familiar experiences of this bear family instill timeless life lessons and reflect the traditional community values of country life.

When I was younger, I absolutely loved The Berenstain Bears and I love now that I can share them with my own kids.  This DVD collection is perfect for us because it features 15 whole episodes of those loveable bears.  Each episode features a lesson that only the Berenstain Bears can make both fun and educational!  My kids thought it was great to watch the episodes and then go read The Berenstain Bears books that we have – yeah for encouraging reading.  You get three DVDs in this collection, each with five episodes on it, and don’t worry the episodes are short enough for kids to understand.  Whether we watch just one or a whole DVD, it is perfect for my boys and they ask to watch them again and again.  Very cute and wholesome.
