Watching Videos Online Safely With Kidobi {Review}

Disclosure: I received a subscription and package in exchange for my honest opinion.

My kids love their technology and one thing they especially love is videos.  Whether they are watching them on my phone, tablet or computer, they all love watching videos. At first I used to put YouTube on for them and do a search for something like “Sesame Street” or “SpongeBob” but then I found that since anyone can upload a video and name it whatever, there were inappropriate videos that would play.

Kidobi is a subscription service that organizes safe video content for kids all on one website for children ages 2-6 years old.  It even goes so far as customizes playlists based on your child’s age and interests.  You just create a simple profile for each child and a playlist is automatically created.  I liked this because it took the guesswork out of whether a video was safe and the videos chosen were perfect.  Want more videos? There are tons more videos you can add to a playlist from all sorts of subjects.  From Math to Social Skills to Language to Science, there really is a video for every child.  My boys are 4 and 6 and they picked tons of videos and loved that they could customize their videos.  My 6.5 year old was a little old for the video nonetheless he still sat and watched them and had to create his own playlist.

Here is a playlist example:

Right now Kidobi is offering a special of $4 a month, instead of the regular price of $8 per month.  For moms who are looking for a safe set of videos and something they can customize, Kidobi is perfect.  My kids are starting to get older and want to play on their devices more instead of just watch videos so this isn’t something I would probably pay for going forward, but I do see the value of this product.  Had I found Kidobi a year or two ago I definitely would have subscribed.  I just love how Kidobi takes the guesswork out of whether or not a video is safe and organizes the video by subjects and ages.  You can also check out Kidobi as an iPad and Android app at www.kidobi.com.
