Okay so growing up with a sister 16 years younger than me, I have seen a lot of the teen and tween Disney shows in addition to the cartoons that my own kids watch. My sister used to stay me all the time when she was a tween to help me with my boys and I grew to like those cheezy non-animated teen shows. To this day I still find myself watching them if they come on after a show my kids were watching. I have probably seen all the Disney Channel movies so far and now there is a new one premiering that actually my oldest son wants to watch.
“Teen Beach Movie” is a Disney Channel Original Movie geared towards kids 6-14 years old along with their families that arrives on July 19th. The movie is about a confident surfer named McKenzie and her carefree boyfriend Brady, who happens to be a fan of the retro surf musical movie “Wet Side Story.” On the morning McKenzie should be boarding a plane for school, she and Brady catch one last epic wave which mysteriously transfers them right into “Wet Side Story” circa 1962. There the couple meets some new friends and land in the middle of a turf war. Its bikers versus surfers for control of the local hangout but little does everyone know but there are mad scientists scheming to alter the weather patterns and take over the local hangout for themselves and then the world! It sounds like a silly teen movie, but yes we will be watching it. I trust too that since its on the Disney Channel it is appropriate for my kids and it features lots of familiar actors from other Disney shows that will be fun to recognize.

July 16: The “Teen Beach Movie” soundtrack is available on iTunes and in stores nationwide. It features 12 songs plus thee instructional bonus tracks on the physical CD.
July 19: Watch the movie”Teen Beach Movie!”
July 20: During the encore telecast of “Teen Beach Movie”, Disney Channel will host a Live Chat expierence inviting viewers to chat LIVE with the stars of the movie at DisneyChannel.com/LiveChat. There will be trivia, polls, photos, fun facts and the ability to download a limited amount of ringtones.
July 21: The Sing Along edition of “Teen Beach Movie” will be presented on Disney Channel. Lyrics of the movie’s nine songs will be visible on the screen and available at DisneyChannel.com/TeenBeachMovie.
July 27: A Dance Along telecast hosted by the cast of the movie airs on Disney Channel with dance tutorials also available on DisneyChannel.com
July 30: “Teen Beach Movie” will be released on DVD at retailers nationwide. An exclusive new music and dance number including behind-the-scenes rehersal footage and an in-packed collectble surfboard zipper pull will be available.
