Costume Express “Darth Vader” Costume {Review}

Don’t get me wrong there is nothing wrong with the costumes you’ll find at you local mass retailer, but the selection sometimes just isn’t what you are looking for.  Whether it be the size your child (or you) needs isn’t in stock or the character costume isn’t available, it can definitely be frustrating shopping for a costume!  I know for me, my kids love to browse the costumes at our local department stores but my boys always have trouble picking one.  I mean a store too can only hold so many costumes out on the sales floor so they have to be choosy.

Well Costume Express is an online store that literally seems like they have everything!  From kids costumes and dress-up to grown up and group costumes, they have something for everyone.  You can even purchase your costume accessories and Halloween decorations there!  Oh and pets are not forgotten as they have a selection of pet costumes as well!

What is super nice though is I pulled up the website, sat down my son and let him scroll through all the costumes.  There are so many categories you can use to narrow down your search too which is super helpful.  My son decided he wanted to be someone from Star Wars and luckily there was a Star Wars category with 40 costumes to choose from.  He had a blast browsing through the costumes and got lots of ideas before he narrowed it down to the Star Wars Darth Vader Costume.

The costume comes with a heavy duty plastic mask, cape, belt and jumpsuit with attached front plates and bootcovers.  The jumpsuit is Polyester and thin enough so it was comfortable and not bulky.  I do suggest buying a size up though.  We bought the 8/10 for my 6.5 year old and its perfect on him.  It does not include the light saber but they do sell those and I of course had to get one of those too!  He absolutely loves the costume and honestly it is one of the better boy ones I have seen.  Other costumes we have had have just been the jumpsuit and mask, which my kids’ school doesn’t allow the mask so it would just be the jumpsuit.  This costume not only has great detail but it includes the belt and cape!   I was impressed too with the mask as it is a hard plastic, not the thin plastic that cracks easily and it has a thick elastic strap with Velcro to attach it.  I have no issues with the costume and I have no doubt my 6 year old will be wearing it daily after Halloween, I won’t let him wear it much now in fear he will rip it or something before Halloween!  Like I mentioned we also got the light saber which extends out to a be a decent size and lights up!  It was nice that was the only accessory we really needed.  The picture of the costume does show gloves, which would be a nice touch, but I’m probably going to just have my son where some black snow gloves we have already.

Overall, we had a great experience with Costume Express.  Some features they offer as well are most orders will ship the same day (if placed before 4 PM Central Time) and if the costume does not fit they offer Free Exchanges where they pay the shipping!
