I loved Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) as a kid and never would I have thought my own kids could grow up with them, but those four green turtles are back. From their TV show on Nickelodeon to all the toys and other merchandise out, you can find almost anything branded with TMNT. Well Playmates Toys has come out with some new TMNT figures called “Flingers” and maybe you can guess what they do? Yes they fling stuff!
Each of the turtles has his own Flingers figure and each one has his own unique item to fling. Michelangelo rings pizzas, Raphael flings his Sai, Leonardo flings sewer covers and Donatello flings Bo’s. I got the chance to check out Raphael and Michelangelo and they are pretty silly. First off Raphael comes with three Sai to throw and you just place them in his back for him to grab. As you roll the figure around (yes they have wheels on their feet) the turtle will reach his arm back, grab the item and reach out and fling! So each one will “Roll, Grab, and Fling.” Now I will say it definitely takes practice to do this but your kids will get the hang of it. Its a matter of lining stuff up right basically but it will work eventually. The instructions even say that you need to practice. Michelangelo worked better for me as for him you load the pizzas in his back and then he grabs them from his stomach to fling.
Overall for the price of $9-$13 (depending on the turtle) its a good value for an action figure since it actually can do something. Now you can of course use them as regular action figures and play with them without flinging anything, because face it kids will loose the pieces eventually. There is no really storage for the items they will fling so I have been trying to keep them in ziploc bags.
