Disclosure: I received a gift card and apples in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.
We’ve all seen red and green apples, but what about Topaz Golden? What apples are Topaz Golden in color? Well Opal Apples are! Opal Apples are not only beautiful in their appearance but they offer a distinctely crunchy texture, flora aroma and a sweet, tangy flavor. Their best feature though is that they do not brown right away! Yes you can cut them in advance and not have to worry about browning! Due to a naturally occurring slow oxidation process, Opal Apples do not brown right away. Opal Apples are so special they are grown in limited acreage so once their gone for the season, they are gone.
Well to celebrate Opal Apples and share them with the world, well my world that is, I threw an Opal Apple party! I had a few friends and family over and served not only Opal Apples, but some yummy recipes created with Opal Apples.

So what did my guests think? Everyone loved them! Even non-apple eaters tried them and loved them. It’s funny, I am not actually one who craves apples but I actually crave these apples. I didn’t have time to run to the store nearby that sells Opal Apples (since unfortunately there is only one store nearby that does) and I came home with some red apples, and my boys were so bummed! I am definitely though taking advantage of Opal Apples since they are only around for a few more months! I highly recommend them, they definitely taste better than plain ole’ apples. I know its weird to say that apples taste different than other apples, but they really do have a unique and delicious taste! Every single person at my party was amazed at how different these apples tasted, they rock!
Opal Apples are also all about making a difference. Through the Opal Apple Youth Make a Difference Initiative, funds are given to youth-based initiatives serving communities in the U.S. where youth take leadership roles in the project. In 2013, $50,000 was distributed to non-profits who fit the criteria and this year $75,000 will be granted. See how you can get involved and choose the organizations to receive funding at opalapples.com/cause.

I had Opal apples for the first time last week. They are good and my daughter loved them. I guess I better pick some more up next grocery store visit. I didn't know they were available for such a short time!
