Giving Back to My Community With the Help of My 2014 Toyota Sienna #SiennaDiaries

As you may have read from my previous posts, I have been driving around the 2014 Toyota Sienna.  I love it to sum up my experience so far but this post is about giving back.  I was challenged to give back to my community with the help of the 2014 Toyota Sienna minivan.  Now what I was going to do was head to my local Aldi, buy a trunk load of groceries and run them over to my local food pantry.  The cargo space is really amazing in the Sienna and it makes it easy to transport groceries without smashing them.

Well a few weeks ago I ran some groceries up there and honestly they had so much.  Not that they couldn’t have used some extra food, I decided to bring something else.  I was thinking “What would people probably not think to donate?”  Well having a little one at home I realized the People’s Resource Center by me could probably use diapers!  So I checked their website and yep diapers was listed as something they collect.  I know you can never have enough diapers and while babies gotta eat, they also need fresh diapers.

So I picked up four giant boxes of diapers from Target, by giant I mean 180 diapers in each and loaded them in my trunk.

I took my kids with to the People’s Resource Center and the lady there was so grateful and surprised by the big boxes of diapers!  My boys and me helped carry all the boxes inside and we left for a car ride home explaining about why we donated the diapers.  My boys could not believe there are people out there that can’t afford diapers or other necessities.

It was nice to not only do a good thing for others but also as a learning experience for my kids.  What are ways your family helps out in the community?
