Disclosure: I wrote this in partnership with CVS/pharmacy who compensated me in exchange for sharing my honest opinion and experience.
I am one of those moms who has thousands and thousands of photos on my computer and smartphone, but hardly ever get any printed. I remember when I was younger being so excited to get a roll of film developed and see how the pictures turned out. I remember saving the film rolls in a Ziploc bag until my mom found a coupon for film developing since I always took so many pictures and had so many rolls to develop.
Well now not only is affordable to develop pictures but it is also easy to create gifts and print out quick prints of them right at your local CVS/pharmacy Photo Center. I admit I have seen the Kodak Picture Kiosk while shopping at CVS and I thought it was going to be complicated and a pain to use. I thought I could upload the pictures at home and create the prints and gifts faster. Well I could do it at home, but from past experience I won’t and the pictures will sit on my phone.
So when I was challenged to head to CVS/pharmacy and create something at their Kodak Kiosk, I planned to be there awhile.
First off, I had to have the pictures I wanted to use so I actually decided to create a folder on my desktop and organize the photos. I then transferred the photos to a USB flash drive.
Here are the ways to bring your photos to your local CVS:
Oh and I’ll apologize now for the photos, I took them with my phone but the store was so bright that it had a glare on the Kiosk screen. You’ll get the point from the pictures regardless.
Even though I had the pictures on a USB drive, I did check out the Smartphone App and Facebook and it was pretty cool to see my albums and folders come up.
I had 128 photos to upload and it took maybe 1-2 minutes. Once uploaded I was able to arrange them by date, which made it a lot easier to create a photo book later on.
Since I had chosen a photo book, next I had to choose the theme. Since I was going for a book about our summer adventures, I chose a Beachy theme for the background.
After choosing the theme, I chose the photo book size.
Then automatically my pictures were filled int the book. I was able to remove any pictures I didn’t want at that point as well. A preview was announced on the kiosk and it explained how to edit the pages and photos before submitting it. I absolutely loved that I didn’t have to sit there and add in the photos by myself and choose layouts for each page. Don’t get me wrong, I do love to customize page by page but it takes me forever and I eventually give up. Having the Kodak Kiosk at CVS insert my pictures into the pages was amazing and honestly I am happy with it. Since my pictures were saved there according to their dates, they were placed into the photo book in order of our summer adventures.
How easy is editing? Super easy! You can add fonts, change the picture layout on the pages, add some effects and more, but honestly I left the book as is other than adding some text to the cover.
How long did it take me to create the 15 page photo book with more than 100 photos? About 30 minutes total. Yeah for a quick memento or gift! At home it would have taken me hours!
The best part though was the book printed right away! As soon as my receipt printed from the machine, pictures began to print and come out of the machine! The CVS/pharmacy associate then grabbed them to assemble the book for me. My store was actually out of the sized photo book I made, but she made a call and was going to have one transferred to the store for me to pick up the next day. Normally though I’d be going home with the photo book I just created! So a heads up if you are making this as a gift and need asap, check with the associate that they have the book in stock before you create it. The associate told me it takes just a few minutes to assemble the book and staple it for me. I love that I didn’t have to wait weeks for it to process and ship, like if I would have made it online.
I did get to see the pages though and was pleased with how they turned out. In addition to photo books, you can do so much more right at the Kodak Kiosk. You can create calendars, collages, DVD picture movies and more. I decided to get some 5 x 7 prints of some of the photos to frame to use as gifts. I was able to select the 4 photos I wanted and create prints in minutes and those printed right out for me! Seriously so quick, easy and convenient! There are other gifts you can create as well such a mousepads, posters and other items but they take 1-2 weeks to get, but it is nice that they offer that in-store!
From now on there are no more excuses for not printing pictures as I am in CVS/pharmacy weekly and it takes just a few swipes from my phone to print them out. I am thinking this would be perfect to stop at to make last minute gifts!
So here is my recap on benefits of using the Kodak Kiosk at CVS/pharmacy:

easy, fun and cheap!
did not know you could do it
I have always been intimidated by these machines but clearly it is easy to do. Going to check it out next CVS visit.
This looks fun and pretty easy, too! I didn't realize I could get photo books from CVS.
