Disclosure: I wrote this in partnership with CVS/pharmacy who compensated me in exchange for sharing my honest opinion and experience.
A few weeks ago I posted about my experience at the Kodak Picture Kiosk at my local CVS/pharmacy. I had never used it before but I had passed it many times while shopping there. Its funny how you can see something but never really see it. For example, I noticed my CVS had a Kodak Picture Kiosk but never went up to it and tried it out. Boy was I missing out! The Kodak Picture Kiosk is seriously so easy even my mom would be able to do it. I say that in a good way, my mom still struggles attaching pictures to emails and sending them to me but the Kodak Picture Kiosk is pretty self-explanatory (and if you need help there are associates there to help!)
So anyways the Kodak Picture Kiosk is a machine for shoppers to use where they can create prints and photo gifts on their own using pictures.
Here are the ways to bring your photos to your local CVS:
I uploaded my photos from a USB drive since they were but I did check out the Kodak Kiosk Connect app and that is great if you want to quickly print photos from your smartphone. I was using pictures from my desktop computer so I added them to a USB at home and all I had to do when I was in the store then was pop in my USB stick and the photos uploaded.
I ended up making a photo book which the standard price for a hardcover photo book is $19.99 and then you pay for additional pages. What I loved about creating the photo book at the kiosk is that it automatically pre-filled in the photos in order to create the book for me. Now of course I could have re-arranged the photos but I loved the convenience of the kiosk arranging them for me. I created my book in about 30 minutes and it printed right then and there. Yes the book prints right in the store for you! No waiting a week or longer for shipping and processing! My CVS was out of the hardcover photo books in the size I picked but the manager ordered one from another store and promised to have it ready the next day. I absolutely love it. For the price, convenience and speed of receiving the finished book, you seriously cannot go wrong. The book would be a great last minute gift for someone to even make the day of the party or when you will see them, you probably should make sure though that your CVS has the book covers in stock before creating it. Luckily CVS stores usually are not far apart (at least by me their not) so if they don’t you can head to another one.
These is a plastic sheeting over the picture to protect it, which you can of course request not to have:
In addition to the book I created some 5 x 7 prints that I am going to frame and give as gifts. I think CVS even carries some frames which I could have picked up but I didn’t think of it until I got home. The prints were ready in just minutes and I was able to take them home with me right away. They were affordable as well at around $2 for a 5×7. I could have made other photo gifts in store such as calendars, collages, DVD picture movies and more. If you have the time, you can make mousepads, posters and other items but they take 1-2 weeks to get, but it is nice that they offer that in-store. Making these gifts and prints at the kiosk is especially great for those without access to a computer or if they are not very tech-savvy. My mother-in-law for example gets all her prints from the kiosk as she doesn’t understand how to find the pictures on her computer and send them somewhere to prints them. She uses her smartphone as her digital camera and it is so easy for her to bring in her smartphone and print the pictures right from it. For me I am thinking having this option will make me actually print out pictures more regularly since I admit to being a mom who never prints out pictures but rather just keeps saving them on my computer. One day I’ll print them, I tell myself.
From now on there are no more excuses for not printing pictures as I am in CVS/pharmacy weekly and it takes just a few swipes from my phone to print them out. I will definitley be creating some photo gifts this Christmas now that I see how easy and fast it is!
