Pizza Here, Pizza There, Pizza Pizza Anywhere Thanks to the Cuisinart #Alfrescamore Outdoor Pizza Oven

Disclosure:  In the spirit of full-disclosure, I’ve partnered with Cuisinart Alfrescamoré and received a product demo and premium items as part of my participation. However, no payment was given or expected for posting about the program, and as always, all opinions given here are fully my own.

Typical outdoor food is usually hot dogs, hamburgers, steaks and chicken, not really pizza.  Well until now. Cuisinart has introduced the Cuisinart Alfrescamore Portable Outdoor Pizza Oven, which is a portable pizza oven! Now you can step up your outdoor cooking to homemade pizzas.  Want something other than pizza? The Cuisinart Alfrescamore Outdoor Pizza Oven is also an oven and can cook pretty much whatever you’d bake inside in your regular indoor oven.  From appetizers to desserts, you can cook an entire meal right outside on your portable pizza oven!  Yes it can even cook frozen pizzas!

When I first got this I admit I was skeptical at how much we’d actually use it.  Then I started thinking of all the foods I bake inside especially in the summer when I hate to turn on the hot oven!  The portability is awesome though because you can take this thing anywhere!  Tailgating, camping, and picnics at the park just got a whole lot fancier!  I joked with my husband that he can bring this to the boy scout camping trip they are going on in a few weeks – he will be a hit I’m sure!  Its just under 40 pounds, so still heavy but not too heavy you can’t carry it.

What powers the oven?  A 1 lb. propane tank is all you need and it nicely attaches to the side of the oven.  We actually ended up already having one on hand from my husband’s blow torch but then picked up another one since it was of course just about empty.  You can also buy a connector hose to attach it to a regular size propane tank.  I think we will end up doing this because they also sell a stand for the oven so you can store it outside nicely!

So what did my family think of this oven?  We love it.  We didn’t have the yeast on hand for the pizzas, but I did have some homemade pizza making kits.  My son had a blast “designing” our pizza as did my husband.

The pizza definitely tasted better in this oven than in our regular oven, I say its from the brick oven aspect and smoke chip cup.  My mom swears by her pizza oven but it is so big and bulky and I don’t have the room for it on my counters or the strength to constantly move it! The Cuisinart Alfrescamore Outdoor Pizza Oven is something even I can carry.

For our entrees, we cooked two pizzas:

I mentioned earlier that we cooked other foods in our oven, which I decided to make a dessert and appetizer – yes a 3-course meal from my new outdoor portable pizza oven.  I always new Cuisinart products were versatile and I definitely proved that with this one.

For an appetizer I made: Caprese Pizzette

Ingredients:

  • Pizza Dough (I used the Cuisinart Pizza Dough recipe but you could make your own or even buy it at the grocery store)
  • Fresh mozzarella (I used the ball of it and then sliced it)
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Basil

Directions:

  • Roll out pizza dough and use a cookie cutter or glass to make as many circles of dough as you can.
  • Top each dough with a piece of mozzarella, cherry tomato and some basil.
  • Bake for about 7-10 minutes.

And for dessert I made: Braided Cinnamon Wreath

Ingredients:

  • Pizza Dough
  • 4 tablespoons of softened butter
  • 3-4 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 teaspoons cinnamon

Directions:

  • Sprinkle flour on working surface and roll out the dough. Spread the melted butter across all of the dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon and sugar mixture. Roll up the dough into a long log shape. Using a sharp knife cut the log in half length-wise.
  • Braid the two halves. Sprinkle corn meal on the pizza peel. Place the braid on the pizza peel and bend it into a circular shape. Tuck one end under the other.
  • Brush the remaining melted butter and sugar/cinnamon mix to the top.
  • Bake in the pizza oven for 5-7 minutes until golden brown.

Overall, this may seem like a big expense, it retails for about $249.99, but to me its something that has so many uses and the portability of it gives it that extra something.  I see using this while camping, at family picnics at the park, pizza parties in our backyard and in the summer when I just don’t want to heat up my kitchen with my big oven.  It is also nice to have right next to your grill so if your husband (or you) are grilling you can also be baking something right next to you.  No more running inside to check on dessert or a side dish you were baking.  I really do see a lot of uses for this oven and I am glad I gave it a chance!
