Building Sets Girls Will Want to Build & Play With

Disclosure: I received the products below to review in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.

My boys have always love building and they would build with whatever they could find. My daughter though has not grasped the building concept. She of course can stack blocks but she is not really creative as far as building goes.

STEAM Learning seems to be a common phrase nowadays, with “A” for art recently being added to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. A new line was recently introduced to help girls spark imagination and a lifelong love for STEAM Learning.

Build & Imagine StoryWalls play-sets are made of colorfully illustrated magnetic panels that kids can join together however they want. The end result is a scene they have created and one they can play with. The illustrated pieces are perfect story starters that can spark imaginative play. My daughter has the whole imaginative play down pat but she has always needed help with science and engineering.

The Build & Imagine sets use both left and right brain play, encouraging spatial reasoning and problem solving. The products are like a 3D storybook setting with kids as the architect and storyteller.

There are currently three Build & Imagine sets available, with two more coming in the fall.

I got the chance to check out Malia’s Beach House. It has received numerous awards already, including Dr. Toy’s 2015 Best Classic Toys.

The set includes 16 dual-sided StoryWall building panels, two dolls and more than 40 magnetic accessories. The pieces allow kid’s to build a whole beach house. The set is designed for ages 4 and up, which my 4 year old had no problem building. She did need help to get it started as the pieces didn’t make sense to her at first but once my 7 year old son showed her, she got it.

Overall, this is a set that has really sparked my daughter’s interest in building and science. I love seeing that spark in her now when she builds like my boys have always had. These sets are so open-ended and kids can really be creative when building and then styling with the accessories. After the fun of building there is time to play and then re-build to a different structure!
