A Simple Yet Fast Laptop That’s Only $149 – The Hisense Chromebook

I received the product below to review in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.

Laptop shopping can be pretty overwhelming and honestly even though I have bought numerous computers in my lifetime I still dread shopping for one. I think I overthink laptop shopping.

Recently though I realized I don’t need a super expensive laptop to do what I need to do. I use my desktop computer for photo editing and more labor intensive projects but as far as my laptop goes, I pretty much just use it for the Internet and word documents. I also take my laptop when I travel and so many times I worry about bringing my expensive laptop through all the abuse of traveling.

Well the Hisense Chromebook is a laptop that not only covers basic needs but it has really surprised me with what it has packed in it and what it can do.

Features:

  • Weighs just 2.5 lbs.

  • 11.6″ display screen

  • Up to 8.5 hours battery life – I will say I have not charged this laptop yet and feel like I have used it so much for this past week. With other laptops I usually have to charge them every night and always when traveling. Since the Hisense Chromebook doesn’t have a lot going on in the background, I don’t think it eats away at the battery as fast.
  • Boots up in less than 10 seconds – Another amazing feature as I sometimes turn on my other laptop, go to the bathroom and come back to see it still hasn’t booted up completely.
  • Auto-updates built in to keep it up with virus protection and hassle-free
  • Syncs with Android phones and tablet, and everywhere you have your Google account signed in. Since the Hisense Chromebook is Google-based all your Google pieces are in one place. I use Gmail, G+, Google Photos which backups my smartphone, and Google Drive – no matter what device I use, I love that its all there.

  • No set-up needed. When I first turned this laptop on all I had to do was connect to WiFi and connect my Google account.
  • The laptop keeps Gmail, Maps, Docs and pics safely stored in the Cloud (which is over WiFi) nothing is stored on the laptop so you don’t have to worry if something happens to your laptop! This is perfect too if you don’t have your laptop with you too but need to access your files from another computer – yeah for the Cloud! Oh and did I mention you get 100 GB of FREE Google Drive storage for 2 years, after that you will either have to pay or just downgrade your Drive space.
  • USB ports are included which not all barebones laptops include
  • Webcam

This laptop seriously couldn’t be any easier to use or set-up. I will say though if you don’t have WiFi or have a Google login, you won’t appreciate this laptop. Creating a Google account is free though and super useful so its not really a problem to set one up. WiFi though is required and I found this laptop to not really be useful when I didn’t have WiFi; luckily, WiFi is pretty much everywhere I go so I don’t have a problem.

Looking for apps? This laptop doesn’t really have apps on it that aren’t Google-related.

Just need the Internet and word document creation? This laptop is perfect. I plan on bringing this laptop with me whenever I travel and around the house it has been quite useful for work. No waiting around for a laptop to boot up or getting sidetracked with programs. The Hisense Chromebook is barebones but does the job. I have been using it a lot lately and really I am surprised at how much I really don’t use anything on my laptop other than Google products and WiFi. For students, the Hisense Chromebook is perfect as its affordable and while I hate to say expendable, I know things happen (especially in college dorms!)

At just $149, the Hisense Chromebook really is a laptop to check out.
