“The Day the Crayons Came Home” Book (& #Sweepstakes Today)

I received this book in exchange for sharing this information.

Penguin Kids has launched the Penguin Young Readers 12 Days of Picture Books campaign. Each day they are highlighting select picture books from the past year and running different giveaways each day from the Penguin Kids Facebook page.

Today’s book is: The Day the Crayons Came Home

The companion to the #1 blockbuster bestseller, The Day the Crayons Quit!

“Highly anticipated (yes, even for adults)” —Entertainment Weekly

I’m not sure what it is about this kid Duncan, but his crayons sure are a colorful bunch of characters! Having soothed the hurt feelings of one group who threatened to quit, Duncan now faces a whole new group of crayons asking to be rescued. From Maroon Crayon, who was lost beneath the sofa cushions and then broken in two after Dad sat on him; to poor Turquoise, whose head is now stuck to one of Duncan’s stinky socks after they both ended up in the dryer together; to Pea Green, who knows darn well that no kid likes peas and who ran away—each and every crayon has a woeful tale to tell and a plea to be brought home to the crayon box.

Look for a special glow-in-the-dark picture [Note: make sure to “charge” it under a light first].

We never read the the first book “The Day the Crayons Quit” but we still enjoyed this book. It is a super adorable book where various crayons send their owner (a boy) postcards from wherever they are. From a hotel pool, under the couch or even hiding because they are embarrassed. The drawings are beautifully illustrated and I admit I love looking at this book. I won’t give away the ending but it is adorable and happy. This is a great picture book for any child to add to their collection. I would say kids ages 4 to 9 year old would especially enjoy the humor the book.

Check out The Day the Crayons Came Home or wherever books are sold.
