New Flavors From Modern Table

Modern Table is a company that wants to help modern families win at mealtime. They understand that modern families come in all shapes and sizes. I first heard of Modern Table early this year and when I got to try out some of their awesome pastas.

What is so special about Modern Table?

It’s all about the beans.

Yes beans. Beans are high in plant-based proteins, which means means they are lower in fat, less expensive and a more sustainable option that animal protein. Beans are actually considered both a protein and vegetable according to the USDA – yeah for covering two food groups! Oh and beans are high in fiber which can help lower cholesterol and control blood sugar levels. Really there are so many great reasons to eat beans.

So Modern Table takes beans and creates bean-based pastas. They package them into a bag along with dried veggies, sauce and seasoning so all you have to do is add water.

My family loves Modern Table pastas and I love that I can sneak veggies, protein and fiber in with foods my family enjoys. The kits come with everything you need and we have eaten them both as a side dish and as a main entree. The kits have suggested proteins you can add to make it a main entree such as adding chicken or shrimp. In just 15 minutes I can have dinner on the table or an easy side dish. The bean pasta dishes appear like regular pastas but are made from lentils and/or black beans. It is a great way to enjoy pasta with whatever topping you want, usually butter or pasta sauce in our house.
