2016 Mazda CX-9 Car Review @DriveShopUSA @MazdaUSA

I received this car for one week to review in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.

Mazda to me is a car that you are meant to zoom round town in. The cars are not super fast but they are sporty and the lightweight design makes them fun to drive. Well even though the 2016 Mazda CX-9 is an SUV, I found it drives like a car. As a mom of three, I will say it was nice to have the design and feel of a Mazda but in SUV form.

Features:

  • Roomy – this model comes with a third row and seats 7 passengers. The trunk is not very big at all with the third row up but when its down there is plenty of room.

  • SKYACTIV-G 2.5T Turbo Engine – Not sure if this is the reason but it did have a good pick up and drove great at high speeds on the highway.
  • Rain-sensing windshield wipers – This is a feature that I found because some drops landed on the windshield and it was a nice surprise.
  • Great warranty – 60month/60,000 mile powertrain and 36 month/36,000 mile bumper-to-bumper
  • Tire pressure monitoring system – Do you check your tires regularly? I don’t and honestly getting a flat tire freaks me out. I love that this alerts the driver to low tires.
  • Power everything – From the seats to the trunk lift gate, there is power buttons throughout the car.

  • Keyless entry – This is becoming pretty standard and I love it. Being able to keep my car keys in my purse or pocket means I don’t have to dig them out. You just push a button on the door when you are nearby and it senses the keys.

  • More than a few USB’s which is nice as well as a lighter adapter in the trunk (perfect for connecting whatever you need back there!)

This one is in the second row:

This is in the wall of the trunk:

  • Push Button Engine Start – Again this becoming standard but it goes along with keyless entry and is a convenience thing.

  • Mazda Navigation/Entertainment System – This navigation was super easy to use and I didn’t need a manual to figure out. You actually can easily control the system with the knob by the gear shift or with some buttons on the steering wheel. It took me a day to get used to the knob but once I did, I loved it.

  • Lane Departure Warning – Perfect for keeping the driver alert and in their lane, a beep sounds when you start to cross the other lane.
  • Airflow for the second row – I found this is not standard in cars so it is nice that the second row has their own climate control buttons and airflow.

  • 23 MPG City and 27 MPG Highway

Some other pics of the car:

While many features are becoming standard on cars, it is nice to have a car that you can trust. Mazda is known for their technology in cars as well as their warranty. I do though feel this car was a little more than I expected it to be as far as price goes. With all the features (many I didn’t list above) it came to $43,000. Now for that price I would have expected more premium features but then again SUVs do tend to cost more. If you are looking for a family SUV, this car worked for my family of five but it is not one we would consider due to its price. I feel like I could get more packed in from other car brands than what this came with.
