My kids have been playing with K’NEX since they were just starting to play with real toys. From Lincoln Logs to Tinkertoys, K’NEX has been a hit in our household. Now my boys have moved onto some of the older K’NEX building sets, which K’NEX has just come out with a few awesome ones!

We got the chance to check out some of the 2-in-1 Building Sets and my 8 year old could not open the boxes fast enough! He was so excited to see how they moved after he built them because they each came with a motor!

K’NEX Turbo Jet 2-in-1 Building Set

This K’NEX set comes with pieces to build two different products – a jet or a helicopter. It is either or as you build one and then have to take it apart to build the other. My 8 year old son built the jet first and after an hour or so he had it built. He had no problems at all following the illustrated directions, no reading is required. You do need to add batteries to the motor which are not included and I recommend adding those first thing before your child builds the item! Once built the jet or helicopter will only go forward or backward. There is no remote so its a little strange to have to keep going to it to change to forward or back, but fun nevertheless. Even my son’s friends who saw the jet were amazed and thought it was super cool. Other K’NEX pieces can be added to it as well to modify it!

K’NEX Revvin’ Race Car 2-in-1 Building Set

This K’NEX set comes with pieces to build two different products – a race car or ATV. It is either or as you build one and then have to take it apart to build the other. My 8 year old son built the race car first and after an hour or so he had it built. He had no problems at all following the illustrated directions, no reading is required. You do need to add batteries to the motor which are not included and I recommend adding those first thing before your child builds the item! Once built the race car and ATV will only go forward or backward. There is no remote so its a little strange to have to keep going to it to change to forward or back, but fun nevertheless. My son can’t wait to find his K’NEX guys to put in the driving seat! Other K’NEX pieces can be added to it as well to modify it!
