Playing Around With Schleich’s Big Adventure at the Water Hole

This post is part of a sponsored campaign with Schleich. I received compensation for my participation, but my review and opinions are my own.

When my kids were younger, I got them some Schleich animals to play with. Since they were young, I more so kept the pieces for display until they could play nicely with them. That is what is awesome about Schleich – they can be model pieces on display or toys to be played with. The pieces are quality made and sturdy enough they stand up to use.

Schleich definitely knows what they are doing as well since they have been bringing figurines to life since the 1950’s. Schleich believes their animal play worlds should be a true reflection of nature but on a smaller scale. Their pieces are realistic and naturalistic as possible.

Well now that my youngest is 5, I was excited to check out the Big Adventure at the Water Hole set from Schleich. It is a set actually for as young as 3 years old but I think 5 is really a perfect minimum age.

Here is an un-boxing video I took of opening the set up as well as setting it up:

Features of Schleich’s Big Adventure at the Water Hole set:

Super easy to follow visual instructions. My 5 and 8 year old put this set together on their own.

The pieces are hand painted and very realistic – seriously they are amazingly detailed and beautiful. I was amazed at the quality of each piece.

Very realistic in terms of the scenery and environment. I love how there are so many plants to snap in and rocks for animals to enjoy. Even the water source is more detailed than just blue painted plastic.

The set comes with seven animals which is a good amount to start with. You can also buy additional Schleich animals to add on for more fun. My kids have already asked for additional animals for Christmas!

Overall, I really feel like this is a great set whether its your family’s first Schleich product or to add to a collection. For kids, it is a set that will grow with them and last. As a mom of three, two of which are very active-playing boys, I feel like these pieces are going to last with everyday play.

As far as set-up goes, the instruction manual was very clear with pictures. My 8 year old and I had it set up in about 10 minutes. Everything snapped in or rested nicely on the set, and is easily moved. The box it comes in is also very sturdy and everything can easily be stored inside for when not in use.

  • I really like that watering hole, especially that it comes with animals. I bout Schleich animals and knights a few years ago. He still has them. Although he no longer plays with the Schleich figures, he does keep them on display.
