Disneynature “Born in China” Surprised Me #EarthDay #BornInChina #DisneySMMC

I attended this conference at a discount and received products/tickets in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.

Back in 2008 an independent film unit of Walt Disney Studios was formed, Disneynature, with the purpose of producing nature documentaries. Many of the films have been released on Earth Day and had a budget of $5 million to $10 million.

While I am not an animal lover nor would I ever think to watch an animal documentary, I am so glad I got the chance to check out the newest Disneynature film, Born in China. I recently attended the Disney Social Media Moms conference and we got a chance to see the movie. We even got to hear from some of the people behind the movie, which I admit was amazing to hear their feelings and thoughts behind the film.

Born in China is the story of three animal families – the majestic panda, the savvy golden monkey and the elusive snow leopard. The animals are filmed in their habitats in China from the cold mountains to a bamboo forest. You get to see the animals interacting with their families. It is amazing how close the cameras get and how the story that is told really seems to be true. We learned that the animals are filmed first and then a storyline is developed.

The movie is narrated by John Krasinski, yes that John Krasinski!

Give Disneynature a chance!

Like I said, I am not an animal lover, but I loved the Born in China movie. The narration of the animals was fun and the images of the animals were amazing. We learned that there were some people with actual cameras filming and some cameras that were mounted to catch the animals in their natural habitats. Even my kids who are not used to documentaries enjoyed the movie and saw it as a movie. My kids didn’t even realize it was real animals and a documentary! They learned so many great animal facts and asked if there were other Disney animal movies they could watch!

See Born in China opening week of April 21st, 2017,  and Disneynature will make a donation in your honor to World Wildlife Fund to benefit wild pandas and snow leopards.
