Make Netflix Work For You @Netflix #StreamTeam

I am currently a member of the Netflix Stream Team and this post is part of my involvement in the Group in exchange for receiving a product package.

Do you ever login to Netflix and see tv shows and movies that don’t interest you at all? Sometimes I wonder why a particular show is even showing up for me but its not like I can tell Netflix that I am not interested. Well actually now I can!

Netflix now has a Thumbs Up/Down Rating System!

See a show you like or don’t like, click the little thumb up or down. Netflix will then works its magic to do a better job suggesting what you will like.

The old rating system was stars and honestly in all the years I have used Netflix I don’t think I ever used it. I don’t know why I didn’t use it other than it was hard to choose from the five stars. I always looked at the star system too as a way for me to review the program for other viewers. A thumb up or down though is only a yes or no answer and that I can handle and it is for me! No more kid shows on my Netflix Profile! No more shows that don’t interest me at all! My Netflix Profile will be all me!

Here, for example, is what it shows before I started with the thumbs up and down system. Honestly, some of those are not ones I would want to watch.

Now I know it will take a little bit for Netflix to get to know me but I am excited to see what it recommends for me. I read on Netflix that when they replace the stars with thumbs they saw an astounding 200% increase in ratings activity. I can definitely believe that as sometimes I feel overwhelmed scrolling and searching on Netflix that I give up. I would watch more if it was right there recommended for me.

Since we all change our minds, or give in to Netflix peer pressure from friends, even if you thumbs down a show you will still be able to search for it. The shows and movies won’t go away forever, they just won’t be displayed on your homepage anymore.

So start using that little thumb and make your Netflix viewing easier and quicker! Who knows you may be surprised by what you start seeing recommended!

Do you think this rating system will help your viewing experience?

  • I haven't tried Netflix yet, but am interested in trying it. I've been reading things online about Netflix in order to help me make up my mind if it would be worthwhile for me or not. It's nice to know ahead of time about the features they offer and how it works. This new thumbs up/thumbs down system sounds like it would help find things to watch faster.

  • I have never paid much attention to the Netflix rating system but this looks like an easy way to find the shows that I am most interested in.

  • I'll have to try that next time I watch something on Netflix. I didn't even realize that was available. I'd love for the shows they recommend to me, be something I'd actually watch.
