We have owned our iPad since it first came out and so many accessories since then. From plastic pieces to cases, we have tried them all. Well Magik Play is a set that has really surprised and impressed me. It was launched from a Portugese startup and has made it way over to the US.

What makes Magik Play different?

• The Starter Kit includes a wooden holder and 10 chunky wooden blocks in a sturdy cardboard box for storage.
• There are three apps you choose from to play with the blocks adapted from ages 2 to 8 years old.

• Improves fine motor skills, spatial reasoning, creativity and collaboration
• Builds confidence while kids work on the challenges themselves.
• Works with all iPads including iPad mini (except the iPad 1 and the 12.9 inch Pad Pro). It will not work with Android.

What do you do in Magik Play?

Players pick one of the three apps (based on their age) and get ready with their “smart” blocks. The ten blocks are “smart” because they work with the iPad sensors to register on the screen. Kids then take the blocks and lean them against the iPad screen on the stand to make them register on screen. I have tried other accessories that you have to put the pieces in front of the screen on a flat surface but this is really easy for younger kids especially.

By having kids build with their pieces on the iPad screen they stop the mindless screen tapping. Kids can actually build their skills and confidence while strategizing on the game! The kit is truly a smart toy that kids can learn and play with.

My kids have been having a blast with our Magik Play Starter Kit. They were able to tackle the challenges on their own right away and it was amazing to watch them play with it. I love how easily it is for kids on their own, although the challenges do get harder as they go on. The box also stores everything inside nicely and is ready for the next time your kids want to play!
