Explore the World With Oregon Scientific’s SmartGlobe

I received product/compensation in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.

My kids have always been fascinated with maps and atlases. Something though about a flat map is just not as fun or easy to understand. Heck, I have even been known to roll a map around to get a better idea of where something is.

Well, the Oregon Scientific SmartGlobe is something that is truly both fun and educational. I got it for my 6-year-old but even my 9 and 10-year-old have been playing with it.

What makes the Oregon Scientific SmartGlobe fun?

  • Wireless Bluetooth touch pen for starters. No cord to get tangled! There is also a headphone jack, speaker and updateable memory on the pen. The pen can even be stored in the back of the globe. The spaceship Bluetooth pen is something that screams “pick me up and tap somewhere!”
  • Over 20,000 fun facts, 42 games and test quizzes.
  • Globe opens to explore planets and space. The other half features the earth’s inner core and each layer. There is even a rest for the globe when its opened so it doesn’t roll around when exploring it open.

  • AR Augmented Reality brings the globe to life with animals, dinosaurs, and famous landmarks. We haven’t tried this yet as my kids are still having fun with just the pen and not big into AR.

  • Multi-language option: English, Spanish, Italian, Russian and French
  • Super easy to use! My 6-year-old had this figured it out all on her own!
  • No batteries required – just charge the pen via USB (cord included)
  • Detailed USA map – so nice to see a globe with a map of our United States
  • Geared for kids ages 5 to 15 with tons to explore and learn for all ages.

Honestly, my family is really loving this globe and we have barely scratched the surface. I do wish it lit up but then the globe itself would require batteries or a plug. The globe is also heavily dependent on the pen and with it being cordless, I worry we will lose it eventually. The cost is also pricey at around $150, I’d prefer it at $100 or less. I think because it comes with so much is why its so expensive but I don’t even know if we will ever touch the surface of everything!
